Getting from Paris Orly Airport to your destination

Paris Orly (ORY) is about 14 km south of central Paris, taking 30-50 minutes depending on traffic and transport choice. Since June 2024 Metro line 14 runs directly into Orly and reaches Chatelet in about 25 minutes, which makes it the simplest way in. Public transport to the airport uses a single fare, the Ticket Paris Region - Aeroports at 14 EUR (7 EUR reduced), valid on line 14, Orlyval and the RER (Ile-de-France Mobilites, fares applicable 1 January 2026). Taxis run on a government-set flat rate: 36 EUR to the Left Bank, 45 EUR to the Right Bank (arrete of 24 December 2025, in force since 1 January 2026). A private transfer is about 40-65 EUR. Orly is Paris's second airport but still sees massive traffic, so plan your transport before landing.

Orly has four terminals: Orly 1, 2, 3, and 4. After a confusing renaming in 2019 (they used to be called South and West), signage is now fairly clear. All terminals are connected by the Orlyval automatic train.

After baggage claim, follow signs to your transport option. The airport is smaller than Charles de Gaulle but still requires some walking. The Orlyval station is between terminals 1 and 4.

Taxis wait outside each terminal at marked ranks. For pre-booked transfers, drivers typically meet you in the arrivals hall.

Metro line 14 - Since the line 14 extension opened in June 2024, the metro runs directly from Orly into central Paris, reaching Chatelet in about 25 minutes. It is fully accessible, frequent, and the simplest option for most travellers. Use the Ticket Paris Region - Aeroports (14 EUR, or 7 EUR reduced).

Orlyval + RER B - The older route: the Orlyval automated train from Orly to Antony station (8 minutes), then RER B into central Paris (Denfert-Rochereau, Saint-Michel, Chatelet). Total journey 35-45 minutes. The same 14 EUR airport ticket covers it. Line 14 has made this route largely redundant unless you are specifically heading somewhere on the RER B.

Tram T7 + Metro - The T7 tram runs from Orly to Villejuif-Louis Aragon (Metro 7), taking roughly 50-60 minutes to Chatelet. Ile-de-France Mobilites prices its Bus-Tram ticket at 2.05 EUR and its Metro-Train-RER ticket at 2.55 EUR, but it marks both as not valid to or from the airports and directs airport travellers to the 14 EUR airport ticket. If you are counting on the T7 as a cheaper way in, check current ticket validity with Ile-de-France Mobilites before you travel rather than assuming it works.

OrlyBus - Withdrawn. The OrlyBus (RATP line 283) ran for more than 60 years but stopped for good on 3 March 2025, after the line 14 extension cut its ridership by over 80%. Any guide still recommending it is out of date.

Taxi - Paris has flat-rate taxi fares from its airports, fixed by government order. From Orly: 36 EUR to the Left Bank (Rive Gauche), 45 EUR to the Right Bank (Rive Droite). These are set by the arrete of 24 December 2025 and have applied since 1 January 2026. The fare is identical day or night, weekends and holidays included, with tolls and standard luggage included, and the meter is not used. The rate is revised most years, so check the current one before you travel. Tips optional.

Private Transfer - Pre-booked at 40-65 EUR to central Paris. Fixed price, meet-and-greet at arrivals. Makes sense for families and groups.

VTC (Private hire / Uber) - Uber, Bolt and other VTC services work from Orly. Their prices are set by the app and move with demand, so check a live quote rather than trusting any published range. Pickup is from the dedicated VTC area.

Public transport to or from Orly uses one ticket: the Ticket Paris Region - Aeroports, 14 EUR full fare or 7 EUR reduced, valid on Metro line 14, Orlyval and the RER (Ile-de-France Mobilites, applicable 1 January 2026).

Note: The Paris flat-rate taxi fares apply between the airport and a Paris address, and include tolls and standard luggage, with no supplement for extra passengers or time of day. They do not apply outside Paris proper (La Defense, Versailles and Disneyland are metered). The flat rates are reset by government order most years, so confirm the current figure before you travel.

Orly has a curfew from 11:30 PM to 6 AM - no flights during this window. So genuine middle-of-the-night arrivals are rare, but delayed evening flights can push past 11 PM.

Metro line 14 and the Orlyval stop running late in the evening, and the OrlyBus no longer exists at all - it was withdrawn on 3 March 2025. Check the last departure for your arrival date on the Ile-de-France Mobilites or RATP site, because the times shift. Once the rail options stop, your choices are taxis (always at the rank), pre-booked transfers, or Uber/VTC apps.

Noctilien (night buses) serve the Orly area with lines N22, N31, N131, N144 - but they're slow, infrequent, and not practical for tourists.

Metro line 14 is the easiest public transport option with children: it is step-free, runs straight into the centre, and takes about 25 minutes. The Orlyval is a small automated train - manageable with one or two suitcases, but not ideal with strollers and multiple bags, and the transfer at Antony to the RER involves stairs and escalators.

The Tram T7 is low-floor and stroller-friendly, but the total journey time (50-60 min) is long with tired kids.

For families, the flat-rate taxi (36-45 EUR) or a pre-booked transfer (40-65 EUR) is the practical choice. Paris flat-rate taxis don't charge extra for luggage or passengers, making them great value for families of 3-4. For 5+ people, you'll need a minivan transfer.

Metro line 14 / Orlyval: Follow signs to the station. The Orlyval station sits between Terminal 1 and Terminal 4.

Taxi: Ranks outside each terminal exit. Use only the official rank — never accept rides from touts inside the terminal.

Pre-booked Transfer: Drivers wait in the arrivals hall holding a name sign. They'll send you meeting instructions by text.

Uber/VTC: Dedicated pickup zones outside each terminal. Follow "VTC" signs.

Take Metro line 14 if: You want the simplest, fastest public transport into central Paris - about 25 minutes to Chatelet, step-free, on the 14 EUR airport ticket.

Take the Orlyval + RER B if: Your destination is on the RER B rather than line 14. Same 14 EUR ticket.

Take the flat-rate taxi if: You want door-to-door service at a fair, regulated price. At 36-45 EUR, Paris airport taxis are genuinely good value (rare for Paris).

Book a transfer if: You're a family needing child seats, a group of 5+, heading to Disneyland/Versailles, or want meet-and-greet service.

Use Uber/VTC if: You want door-to-door and the live app quote beats the flat-rate taxi.
