Beauvais-Tille Airport is about 85 km north of central Paris. That is not a typo — this is genuinely far from the city. Airlines like Ryanair and Wizz Air use BVA and call it "Paris Beauvais," but you should know what you are getting into.

The most common option is the official shuttle bus to Porte Maillot in western Paris, which costs $17 EUR and takes about 75–90 minutes. A taxi or private transfer runs $120–$180 EUR (~$130–$195 USD) and takes 60–90 minutes depending on traffic. There is no direct train from the airport.

BVA is a small, no-frills airport. It has one terminal building that handles both departures and arrivals. After you land, you walk across the tarmac (no jet bridges), collect your bags, and exit into a compact arrivals hall.

The building has basic amenities — a few cafes, a small duty-free area, and ATMs. Do not expect the facilities of CDG or Orly. This is a low-cost airport designed for low-cost airlines.

Once outside, you will see the shuttle bus departure area clearly marked. The bus is timed to flights, so it should be waiting or arriving shortly after you clear baggage claim.

The official shuttle bus is run by the airport and is the default choice for most travelers. It departs from outside the terminal, is timed to match flight arrivals, and drops you at Porte Maillot where you can connect to Metro line 1 or RER. Buy tickets in advance online for a small discount, or pay at the counter.

Taxis are available outside the terminal but the long distance makes them expensive. The fare is metered and depends heavily on traffic — rush hour on the A16 motorway can add 30 minutes and significant cost.

Train from Beauvais station — you can take a local bus or taxi (~5 EUR / 10 min) to Beauvais SNCF station and then a TER train to Paris Gare du Nord. The total journey takes 90–120 minutes and costs 15–25 EUR total, but it requires managing connections and schedules.

The shuttle bus is so much cheaper that most budget travelers use it without question. The price gap between shuttle (17 EUR) and taxi (120+ EUR) is enormous. The trade-off is comfort and time — the bus is not luxurious, and 75–90 minutes in a coach after a flight is tiring.

This is where BVA gets tricky. If your flight arrives late (after 10 PM), the shuttle bus may still run — it is timed to flights — but confirm this for your specific arrival. The last scheduled shuttle often departs around midnight or later for delayed flights.

If you miss the shuttle, your options are a taxi at 120–180 EUR or a pre-booked private transfer. There are no trains at that hour, and the town of Beauvais largely shuts down. Having a backup plan for late arrivals is important at this airport.

The shuttle bus allows standard luggage but can feel cramped during full flights. If you are traveling with a stroller, car seats, and multiple bags, managing everything on a bus for 75 minutes and then navigating the Metro is exhausting.

For families, a private transfer from BVA directly to your Paris hotel is a significant quality-of-life upgrade. The cost is high (100–160 EUR), but split among a family of four, it is 25–40 EUR per person — not wildly more than the shuttle when you factor in Metro tickets and the hassle.

Taxis — a small taxi rank is outside the terminal. Availability can be limited, especially for late flights. Consider calling ahead.

Private transfer drivers — they typically wait inside the arrivals hall with a name sign, or just outside the exit doors. The airport is small enough that finding each other is straightforward.

Train connection — to reach Beauvais SNCF station, take the local Corolis bus (line 6) or a short taxi ride from the airport.

Choose the train route if you enjoy a more scenic journey, are flexible with time, and want to avoid the motorway bus ride.

Choose a taxi if you need to leave immediately, money is not the primary concern, and you want a direct ride.

Choose a private transfer if you are a family, have lots of luggage, arriving late at night, heading somewhere other than Porte Maillot, or simply want the comfort of a door-to-door service after dealing with a budget airline experience. The price is steep, but the convenience is real.
