Paris Orly with kids: getting to your hotel without the drama

Last updated: March 2026

Paris with kids is magical — the Eiffel Tower, boat rides on the Seine, crepes on every corner. Getting from Orly to your hotel with the family just needs the right transport choice.

Public transport with kids: the honest truth

Tram T7 + Metro

At 4.35 EUR, it's tempting. But a tram, then a metro transfer, then more metro, all with luggage and kids? It takes 50-60 minutes and involves stairs, crowds, and potential meltdowns. Skip it with young children.

Orlyval + RER B

Faster (35-45 min) but involves a small automated train, a platform change at Antony, then the RER. The Orlyval is tiny and gets crowded. With a stroller and suitcases, you'll be that family blocking the aisle. Not fun.

OrlyBus

Direct to Denfert-Rochereau, 30-40 minutes, 11 EUR per person. More spacious than the Orlyval and has luggage space. If you're heading to the 14th arrondissement area, this is the best public transport option for families.

Flat-rate taxi with kids

The flat-rate taxi (35-44 EUR) is excellent for families of 3-4:

  • Door-to-door, no connections
  • Price is fixed regardless of traffic or luggage
  • Standard Paris taxis fit 2 adults + 2 kids comfortably
The catch: French taxis don't carry child seats. Children under 10 must legally use a child restraint, but taxis have an exemption. If you want proper car seats for safety, you need a transfer.

Transfer with kids (best for young families)

| Family setup | Vehicle | Child seats | Price to Paris | |---|---|---|---| | 2 adults + 1 child | Sedan + 1 seat | Available | 40-55 EUR | | 2 adults + 2 children | Minivan + 2 seats | Available | 55-75 EUR | | 2 adults + 3+ children | Large minivan | Available | 65-90 EUR |

Why families choose transfers:

  • Child seats provided — infant, toddler, booster — specify when booking
  • Minivan space — actually fits the stroller, luggage, and kids without Tetris skills
  • Driver meets you at arrivals — no navigating Orly with kids and bags
  • Fixed price — 5-15 EUR more than a taxi, but includes child seats and meet-and-greet

Heading to Disneyland from Orly

Many families fly into Orly specifically for Disneyland Paris (55 km east). Your options:

| Option | Price | Time | Family-friendly? | |---|---|---|---| | Transfer (minivan) | 70-95 EUR | 50-60 min | Excellent | | Taxi (metered, no flat rate) | 80-100 EUR | 50-60 min | OK, no child seats | | Public transport (OrlyBus + RER + Shuttle) | ~15 EUR/person | 1.5-2 hours | Painful with kids |

For families with luggage going straight to Disney: book a transfer. The 70-95 EUR is worth every cent versus 1.5 hours of public transport changes with exhausted children.

Paris tips for families from Orly

  • Left Bank hotels are closest to Orly and cheapest to reach by taxi (35 EUR flat)
  • The 5th and 6th arrondissements are walkable and family-friendly — Jardin du Luxembourg is a must with kids
  • Avoid rush hour (7:30-9:30 AM, 5-8 PM) — Paris traffic doubles the ride time
  • Car seats: If renting a car later, bring your own or book one with the rental. French rental companies charge 10-15 EUR/day for child seats

Our advice

For families with young children who need car seats: book a minivan transfer at 55-75 EUR. For families with older kids (no car seats needed) and moderate luggage: the flat-rate taxi at 35-44 EUR is genuinely excellent value. Either way, skip public transport with small kids — it's not worth the stress.
