Green Policy

Our commitment to sustainable and environmentally responsible airport transfers

Last updated: March 2026

At AirportTransfer Portal, operated by Funny Tourism Ltd, we recognise that ground transportation plays a significant role in the travel industry's environmental footprint. As a global marketplace connecting travellers with local transfer providers across 395+ airports, we are committed to reducing emissions, promoting greener fleet standards, and driving sustainable practices across our entire supplier network.

This Green Policy outlines our environmental commitments, the standards we set for our partners, and the actions we are taking to build a more sustainable future for airport transfers worldwide.

Our Sustainability Pillars

Six core areas guiding our environmental strategy and operations

Greener Fleet Standards

Encouraging and incentivising our supplier network to adopt electric, hybrid, and low-emission vehicles across all service tiers.

Route Optimisation

Using smart routing technology to minimise journey distances, reduce fuel consumption, and cut unnecessary emissions per transfer.

Paperless Operations

Fully digital booking confirmations, e-receipts, and driver communications — eliminating paper waste across all transactions.

Energy-Efficient Technology

Our platform infrastructure is hosted on energy-efficient cloud servers, and we continuously optimise our codebase to reduce computational energy usage.

Local Supplier Priority

Connecting travellers with local operators reduces dead-mileage, supports local economies, and minimises the environmental cost of long-distance fleet repositioning.

Measurable Targets

Setting annual sustainability goals, tracking fleet emission data across our network, and reporting progress transparently to our stakeholders.

1. Fleet Emission Standards

We actively work with our supplier network to raise fleet standards and reduce the carbon intensity of every transfer booked through our platform:

  • EV & Hybrid Incentives: Suppliers who operate electric or hybrid vehicles receive enhanced visibility on our platform, priority listing in search results, and eligibility for our “Green Fleet” badge displayed to customers at the point of booking.
  • Euro Emission Compliance: We encourage all European suppliers to meet Euro 6 emission standards as a minimum. For new supplier onboarding, fleet age and emission data are assessed during the vetting process.
  • Vehicle Age Guidelines: We recommend that supplier fleets maintain an average vehicle age of no more than 7 years, balancing safety, comfort, and emission efficiency.
  • Fuel Efficiency Reporting: Suppliers are encouraged to report average fuel consumption data per vehicle class, enabling us to benchmark and improve fleet-wide efficiency over time.

2. Carbon Reduction & Offsetting

We are taking measurable steps to reduce and offset the carbon emissions associated with our services:

  • Emission Estimation: We are developing tools to calculate the estimated CO₂ emissions for each transfer, providing travellers with transparent environmental data at the point of booking.
  • Carbon Offset Partnerships: We are exploring partnerships with verified carbon offset programmes, with the goal of offering customers the option to offset their transfer emissions at checkout.
  • Shared Transfer Options: Where available, we promote shared shuttle services as an alternative to private transfers, reducing per-passenger emissions on high-demand airport routes.
  • Idle Reduction: Through our real-time flight tracking system, we ensure drivers are dispatched only when flights have landed, reducing unnecessary vehicle idling and waiting times at airports.

3. Route Optimisation & Efficiency

Efficient routing directly reduces fuel consumption and emissions:

  • Smart Dispatch: Our dispatch system assigns the nearest available driver to each booking, minimising dead-mileage between the driver's location and the pickup point.
  • GPS-Optimised Routes: Drivers are provided with optimised navigation routes that factor in real-time traffic, reducing journey times and fuel waste.
  • Local Operator Model: By connecting travellers with suppliers local to the destination, we inherently reduce the distance vehicles travel empty to reach their pickup locations.

4. Digital-First & Paperless Operations

Our entire operational workflow is designed to eliminate paper waste:

  • Digital Booking Confirmations: All booking confirmations, vouchers, and receipts are delivered electronically via email and SMS.
  • E-Invoicing: Supplier payouts, agency invoices, and affiliate commission statements are generated and delivered digitally.
  • Driver Communication: Ride assignments, passenger details, and navigation instructions are transmitted digitally to drivers via our platform — no printed manifests required.
  • Electronic Document Management: Supplier onboarding documents, licences, and insurance certificates are uploaded and stored digitally in our secure cloud infrastructure.

5. Supplier Environmental Requirements

We hold our supplier partners to clear environmental expectations:

  • Compliance: All suppliers must comply with local environmental regulations applicable to passenger transportation in their operating jurisdictions.
  • Vehicle Maintenance: Regular vehicle servicing and maintenance is required to ensure vehicles operate at optimal fuel efficiency and meet emission standards.
  • Waste Management: Suppliers are expected to manage vehicle-related waste (oil, tyres, batteries, cleaning products) in accordance with local environmental disposal regulations.
  • Green Certification: Suppliers holding recognised environmental certifications (ISO 14001, Green Tourism, or equivalent) are highlighted on our platform with a sustainability badge.

6. Our Corporate Responsibility

Beyond our marketplace operations, Funny Tourism Ltd is committed to responsible business practices:

  • Remote-First Team: Our team operates primarily remotely, significantly reducing commuting emissions and office energy consumption.
  • Green Hosting: We prioritise hosting providers that use renewable energy sources or participate in carbon-neutral programmes for their data centres.
  • Continuous Improvement: We review and update this Green Policy annually, setting new targets and measuring our progress against previous commitments.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: We actively engage with suppliers, agencies, affiliates, and customers to gather feedback and identify new opportunities for environmental improvement.

7. Our Targets

We have set the following sustainability goals for our operations:

  • Increase the proportion of electric and hybrid vehicles in our supplier network by 20% year-on-year
  • Launch customer-facing CO₂ emission estimates for all bookings by end of 2026
  • Achieve 100% paperless operations across all supplier and agency interactions
  • Onboard at least 50 environmentally certified suppliers annually
  • Reduce average dead-mileage per transfer by 15% through improved dispatch optimisation

Our Promise

Sustainability is not a destination — it is a continuous journey. We are committed to transparently measuring our impact, setting ambitious targets, and working collaboratively with our global network of suppliers, partners, and customers to make airport transfers greener, one ride at a time.
