Getting from Paris Orly Airport to your destination

Paris Orly (ORY) is about 14km south of central Paris, taking 30-50 minutes depending on traffic and transport choice. The Orlyval + RER B combo costs about 12-14 EUR and takes 35-45 minutes to Chatelet. The Tram T7 + Metro is cheaper at about 4.35 EUR but slower. A taxi to central Paris is 35-50 EUR (flat rate) and a private transfer about 40-65 EUR. Orly is Paris's second airport but still sees massive traffic — plan your transport before landing.

Orly has four terminals: Orly 1, 2, 3, and 4. After a confusing renaming in 2019 (they used to be called South and West), signage is now fairly clear. All terminals are connected by the Orlyval automatic train.

After baggage claim, follow signs to your transport option. The airport is smaller than Charles de Gaulle but still requires some walking. The Orlyval station is between terminals 1 and 4.

Taxis wait outside each terminal at marked ranks. For pre-booked transfers, drivers typically meet you in the arrivals hall.

Tram T7 + Metro — Budget option. Tram T7 goes from Orly to Villejuif-Louis Aragon (Metro 7). Total journey to Chatelet: about 50-60 minutes. Cost: only 4.35 EUR with Navigo Easy or regular ticket. Slower but much cheaper.

OrlyBus — Direct bus to Denfert-Rochereau (RER/Metro hub). About 11 EUR, takes 30-40 minutes. Runs every 10-15 minutes. A decent option if you're heading to the Left Bank / Montparnasse area.

Taxi — Paris has flat-rate taxi fares from airports. Left Bank (Rive Gauche): 35 EUR. Right Bank (Rive Droite): 44 EUR. These are fixed by law — the meter is ignored. Tips optional.

Private Transfer — Pre-booked at 40-65 EUR to central Paris. Fixed price, meet-and-greet at arrivals. Makes sense for families and groups.

Bus (Le Bus Direct / 183) — Various bus options exist. Line 183 is a cheap city bus. Le Bus Direct (if still running) goes to Montparnasse and Etoile.

VTC (Private hire / Uber) — Uber, Bolt, and other VTC services work from Orly. Prices vary: typically 25-45 EUR to central Paris. Pickup from the dedicated VTC area.

Orly has a curfew from 11:30 PM to 6 AM — no flights during this window. So genuine middle-of-the-night arrivals are rare, but delayed evening flights can push past 11 PM.

The Orlyval runs until about 11:00 PM. The last OrlyBus departs around 12:30 AM. After that, your options are taxis (always available), pre-booked transfers, or Uber/VTC apps.

Noctilien (night buses) serve the Orly area with lines N22, N31, N131, N144 — but they're slow, infrequent, and not practical for tourists.

The Orlyval is a small automated train — manageable with one or two suitcases, but not ideal with strollers and multiple bags. The transfer at Antony to the RER involves stairs and escalators.

The Tram T7 is low-floor and stroller-friendly, but the total journey time (50-60 min) is long with tired kids.

For families, the flat-rate taxi (35-44 EUR) or a pre-booked transfer (40-65 EUR) is the practical choice. Paris flat-rate taxis don't charge extra for luggage or passengers, making them great value for families of 3-4. For 5+ people, you'll need a minivan transfer.

Pre-booked Transfer: Drivers wait in the arrivals hall holding a name sign. They'll send you meeting instructions by text.

Uber/VTC: Dedicated pickup zones outside each terminal. Follow "VTC" signs.

Take the Orlyval + RER B if: You want a faster public transport option and don't mind paying 12-14 EUR.

Take the flat-rate taxi if: You want door-to-door service at a fair, regulated price. At 35-44 EUR, Paris airport taxis are genuinely good value (rare for Paris).

Book a transfer if: You're a family needing child seats, a group of 5+, heading to Disneyland/Versailles, or want meet-and-greet service.

Use Uber/VTC if: You want door-to-door and prices are lower than the flat-rate taxi (check the app).
