Getting from Split Airport to Split, Trogir, and the Dalmatian Coast

Split Airport is in the town of Kaštela, towards Trogir, 20 km from Split and 6 km from Trogir (airport website). Promet Split's bus line 37 (Split - Airport - Trogir) is the only published fare: 2 EUR bought in advance (ticket office, online or on a value card), or 4 EUR paid to the driver, on the Split-Kaštela tariff valid from 1 June 2026. Promet's timetable shows departures mostly every 20 to 30 minutes in the daytime and about 50 minutes from the airport to Split. Taxis wait near the main terminal building, but no fare is published, so ask the driver for an estimate before you set off. Pre-booked transfers quote a fixed price at booking. Trogir is 6 km from the airport, so confirm the current taxi or transfer fare with the driver or your provider. Croatia uses the euro.

Croatia joined the Schengen Area and the euro area on 1 January 2023, so arrivals from other Schengen countries face no passport control.

The airport website lists an exchange office and ATMs on the ground floor of the main terminal building, information desks on the ground floor, and several car rental companies (all external vendors). Its restaurants, bars and exchange office list working hours of 06:00-22:00.

Bus line 37 is the budget option. It runs Split - Airport - Trogir and is operated by Promet Split. The fare is 2 EUR bought in advance (ticket office, online or on a value card), or 4 EUR paid to the driver, on the Split-Kaštela tariff valid from 1 June 2026. Promet's timetable shows departures mostly every 20 to 30 minutes during the day, starting from about 04:00, and gives about 50 minutes from the airport to Split. Tickets can be bought in the Promet Split app or on the bus.

Promet does not name the Split stop on its line page, so check its map before you travel. The bus does not take you to your hotel, so with heavy luggage you may need a taxi for the last stretch. The airport website also lists a separate shuttle bus between the terminal and Split main bus station.

Taxis wait near the main terminal building while the airport is open. No fare is published by the airport, so ask the driver for an estimate to your destination, or agree the fare, before you set off.

Pre-booked private transfers offer a driver meeting you on arrival and going directly to your accommodation, if meet-and-greet is included in your booking. The price is fixed and shown at the time of booking, so you can compare it against a taxi estimate before committing.

Trogir note: Trogir is 6 km from the airport, about 10 minutes by line 37. Promet's Kaštela-Trogir single ticket is 1.75 EUR prepaid or 3.50 EUR from the driver; confirm the taxi or transfer fare with the driver or your provider.

Rental cars are available at the airport from several external companies listed on the airport website. Driving in Split's Old Town (Diocletian's Palace area) is not recommended, since vehicle access is limited.

Getting to Hvar from Split Airport

Hvar is an island, so there is no direct road transfer. The standard route goes like this:

1. Take a transfer or taxi to the ferry port in Split. 2. Take Jadrolinija's car ferry to Stari Grad on Hvar (110 to 120 minutes depending on the document). Foot passengers can take the Jadrolinija catamaran to Hvar Town, which takes about 65 minutes on its 2026 timetable.

Jadrolinija asks you to be at the pier at least 45 minutes before departure, 60 minutes in season. Confirm which ferry you want, the car ferry (Stari Grad) or the passenger catamaran (Hvar Town), when you book, and check the timetable for your date.

To Split city center / Old Town (20 km): 2 EUR prepaid or 4 EUR from the driver by bus 37 (Promet Split tariff); the airport does not publish a taxi fare and transfer prices are quoted at booking, so get a quote before you travel.

To Trogir (6 km): 1.75 EUR prepaid or 3.50 EUR from the driver by bus 37 (Promet's Kaštela-Trogir ticket); confirm taxi or transfer fares with the driver or provider.

To Makarska, Omiš, Šibenik, the ferry port in Split and Dubrovnik: line 37 does not serve these routes directly, and no official taxi tariff is published. Get a fixed quote from your transfer provider, or ask a taxi driver for an estimate, before departure.

Promet's line 37 timetable (valid from 8 September 2025) shows departures from Split until 00:15 and from Trogir until 23:45, but it does not publish the airport stop times. For a late flight, check the timetable for the airport stop; if your flight is delayed past the last bus you will need a taxi or transfer.

The airport website says taxis wait near the main terminal building during airport operating hours. For late arrivals, a pre-booked transfer fixes the pickup in advance; give the provider your flight number, and ask whether delay tracking is included.

Bus line 37 is a public bus, and with children and multiple large bags a taxi or transfer is usually more practical.

Children under 150 cm must travel in a suitable child restraint in Croatia (with an exception for children between 135 and 150 cm using the rear seat belt). The airport website does not list car seats at its taxi stand, so request one when pre-booking a transfer, or bring a travel seat.

Split's Old Town (Diocletian's Palace area) has stone streets and some steps. Hotel and apartment drop-offs in the historic center are typically near the edge of the pedestrian zone, so expect a short walk with luggage.

For pre-booked transfers, your booking confirmation states the exact meeting point and the driver holds a name sign.

Choose bus line 37 if: you are traveling solo or as a couple, you have manageable luggage, and you are arriving in the daytime.

Choose a taxi if: you want door-to-door service without pre-booking and are happy to agree the fare with the driver.

Choose a pre-booked transfer if: you are traveling with family, arriving late, going to Trogir or a coastal town, or want the simplest arrival with a confirmed price.

Choose a rental car if: you plan to explore the Dalmatian coast and interior.
