Several international flights land at DYU between 10 PM and 2 AM, including routes from Istanbul, Dubai, and Moscow. Late-night arrivals here require a bit more preparation than daytime ones.
What is open
The terminal stays operational for incoming flights, but services wind down. The currency exchange counter may close after the last scheduled arrival. ATMs remain accessible but are not always reliable with foreign cards. There is no 24-hour cafe or restaurant in the terminal.

Taxi availability
There will be fewer taxis waiting outside after midnight. Those that remain know they have leverage, and prices go up accordingly — there is no meter and no tariff to appeal to, so the fare is whatever you agree. Negotiation still applies, but your bargaining position weakens when there are only two or three cars and a dozen passengers, which is exactly why we will not print a "normal" night fare here: at 02:00 it would be a number you get quoted, not a number you pay.
Safety considerations
The area immediately outside the terminal is reasonably safe, with some lighting and the presence of airport security. However, the roads around the airport are poorly lit, and there is nothing within walking distance — no hotels, shops, or restaurants. Do not attempt to walk to find cheaper transport.
The recommended approach
For late-night arrivals, pre-book a transfer before you fly. Your driver will be there when you walk out, regardless of whether your flight lands at 11 PM or 2 AM, and the price is the one you agreed while sitting at home rather than the one you can negotiate at 02:00 with two cars on the rank. That is the real argument for it here.
If you cannot pre-book, ask your hotel to arrange pickup. Many hotels in Dushanbe will send a driver for a fee, even at late hours. Call or message them before departure.
If your flight is severely delayed
The terminal is not comfortable for long waits. Seating is limited in the arrivals area. If you face a multi-hour delay and land very late, having a transfer waiting is especially valuable — a taxi driver will not wait indefinitely, but a pre-booked service usually adjusts to your actual arrival time.
Quick checklist for late arrivals
- Pre-book a transfer or arrange hotel pickup before your flight.
- Exchange currency or withdraw cash during daytime at your origin airport.
- Download offline maps of Dushanbe — airport Wi-Fi is unreliable.
- Have your hotel address saved in Cyrillic on your phone.
- Carry a phone charger in your hand luggage.
