Family and Kids Transfer Guide for Toulouse Airport

Toulouse-Blagnac is a modern, well-organized airport that handles families smoothly. The transfer into the city is short, but a few details are worth knowing before you land.

French child seat regulations

France requires children under 10 or shorter than 135 cm to use an appropriate child restraint in cars. However, taxis are legally exempt from this rule. This means taxi drivers are not required to provide car seats, and most do not carry them.

If child safety in the car is a priority for you (and it should be), you have two options: bring your own portable car seat, or book a private transfer with a child seat request. When booking a transfer, specify the age and weight of each child so the correct seat type is provided. Infant carriers, convertible seats, and booster seats are all available through most transfer services.

Public transport with kids

The T2 tram, which used to offer stroller-friendly space directly from the airport, has been suspended since June 2023 for construction and was not running as of mid-2026. In its place, the Navette shuttle bus and regular Tisséo buses serve the airport; both have room for strollers but can be crowded during commute hours, and managing a stroller plus luggage on a packed bus is stressful. If your children are old enough to stand and you are traveling light, the shuttle or bus works fine. For younger children with a stroller and suitcases, a vehicle transfer is more practical. Luggage considerations

Standard French taxis have a sedan trunk that fits two large suitcases and a carry-on. A stroller on top of that makes it tight. If you are a family of four or five with typical holiday luggage, request a minivan. Private transfer services offer this as a standard option, usually at a 20 to 30 EUR premium over a sedan.

The drive itself

The ride from Blagnac to central Toulouse is about 20 to 35 minutes. The route is entirely on well-maintained roads and motorway sections. There is nothing challenging about the drive for children, though rush hour traffic (particularly on the Peripherique ring road) can make it slow and tedious.

If you are heading beyond Toulouse (Carcassonne for the medieval fortress, the Pyrenees for hiking), the drives are longer and a comfortable vehicle with enough space becomes more important.

Airport facilities for families

Blagnac has baby-changing facilities in the terminal restrooms and a small play area in the departure zone (useful if you are leaving rather than arriving). There is a pharmacy in the terminal if you need anything urgently. The walk from arrivals to the tram stop or taxi rank is about 5 minutes on flat ground.

Practical recommendation

For families with children under 5, pre-book a transfer with a car seat. The peace of mind is worth the cost difference over a taxi. For families with older children, a taxi or Uber works fine for the city center. For larger families or those heading outside Toulouse, a minivan transfer is the sensible choice. Have your hotel address ready on your phone, and if your accommodation requires a door code for entry, make sure you have it accessible before landing.
