Arriving late at night at Kuwait Airport: your real options

Last updated: April 2026

Kuwait Airport handles many late-night and early-morning flights. The Gulf is a major transit hub, and airlines like Kuwait Airways, Jazeera Airways, and Gulf carriers schedule arrivals throughout the night. The good news is that ground transport remains available. The challenge is that options narrow after midnight.

Taxis at night

The taxi rank operates 24 hours. However, after midnight the number of available taxis drops. You may wait 10-15 minutes during very late hours. The airport's published zone fares carry no night surcharge, so the fare should be the same as during the day — 8 KD for Kuwait City. If a driver quotes you something different late at night, ask for the airport's zone fare.

Ride-hailing after midnight

Careem and Uber drivers thin out after midnight. Wait times can increase to 15-20 minutes, and surge pricing may apply. If your flight arrives after midnight, do not rely on ride-hailing as your only plan.

Pre-booked transfer: the reliable option

A pre-booked transfer is the most dependable choice for late arrivals. The driver waits regardless of your landing time or flight delays, at the price agreed when you booked. Your driver is inside the terminal when you walk out of customs. For flights arriving between midnight and 5 AM, this is the stress-free option — check at booking whether any night fee applies.

Immigration at night

Late-night immigration processing can actually be faster because fewer flights are arriving simultaneously. However, staffing may be reduced, which can offset this. Allow the usual 20-45 minutes for immigration, especially if you need a visa on arrival.

Airport facilities after midnight

The terminal has limited food and drink options after midnight. A few shops stay open, and there are vending machines and water fountains. If you have a significant wait, the terminal is safe and air-conditioned. There is no dedicated airport hotel inside the terminal, but several hotels are within a five-minute drive.

Planning advice

If you know your flight arrives after 11 PM, consider booking a transfer in advance — the buses have stopped by 23:45 and ride-hailing thins out. Keep some KWD cash as a backup in case app services are unavailable; enough for the 8 KD fixed taxi fare will cover you to the city centre.
