Taxi vs private transfer from Landvetter Airport (GOT)

Last updated: April 2026

Swedish taxis are licensed, safe and professional — but their prices are not regulated, and that is the one thing worth understanding before you pick a car at the rank.

When the taxi is fine

For most travelers, the taxi rank at Landvetter is perfectly adequate. Taxis are clean, drivers are professional, and English is widely spoken in Sweden. What is not predictable is the price: Sweden has free taxi pricing, so two cars in the same queue can charge quite differently for the same trip.

The rank is right outside the terminal. Wait times are rarely more than 5 minutes, even at peak hours. Payment by card is standard (Sweden is essentially cashless).

Check the yellow jämförpris sticker before getting in — it shows that company's price for a standard 10 km, 15-minute trip, and if it is over SEK 700 the company must give you a binding quote before you travel. Stick with established companies like Taxi Göteborg or Taxi Kurir.

When the transfer makes more sense

A pre-booked transfer is worth considering when:

  • You are traveling with a family and need child seats (taxis may have boosters but rarely infant seats)
  • You have a large group with luggage that needs a minivan
  • You are arriving on a late-night flight and want guaranteed pickup
  • You prefer a fixed price confirmed before travel
  • Your destination is outside central Gothenburg (e.g., archipelago hotels, conference venues)

A transfer's price is agreed up front, which at Landvetter is worth more than usual precisely because the taxi price is not. For the added certainty and service, many travelers find it worthwhile.

The Flygbussarna alternative

Before choosing between taxi and transfer, consider whether the Flygbussarna coach meets your needs. For solo travelers or couples with manageable luggage, it offers the same journey time at a fraction of the cost.
