Arriving late at night at Bergen Airport Flesland

Last updated: April 2026

Bergen Airport handles domestic and international flights into the late evening. If your flight arrives after 9 PM, here is what you need to plan for.

Bybanen last departures

The Bybanen light rail is the backbone of airport transport in Bergen, but it does not run all night. The last departure from the airport is typically around midnight on weekdays and slightly later on Friday and Saturday nights. After that, there is no service until approximately 5:30 AM.

If your flight lands before 11 PM, you should comfortably make a Bybanen departure. Check the Skyss app or website for the exact last train on your travel date, as schedules can vary.

Taxis are available at Bergen Airport around the clock, and every operator charges more at night than during the day. How much more varies by company — Norwegian taxi rates have been deregulated since 2020 — so use the Fast Travel kiosks in the terminal: scan the QR code and the price appears before you accept the trip. There are usually taxis waiting at the rank, but after the last flights of the evening availability can thin out. If you see a queue forming, join it promptly.

Pre-booked transfer for certainty

For late night arrivals, especially after midnight, a pre-booked transfer removes uncertainty. Your driver monitors your flight status and is there when you land, regardless of delays, and the price is fixed at booking rather than quoted at 1 AM. For a city like Bergen where the alternative (the Bybanen) stops running, this is the most stress-free late night option.

The terminal at night

Bergen Airport is a modern terminal that remains accessible for arriving passengers but has limited overnight amenities. Shops and restaurants close by late evening. There is no transit hotel or dedicated sleeping area. If your flight is severely delayed and you need to rest, the closest hotels are 5-10 minutes from the airport by taxi.

Bergen winter nights

If you are arriving in winter (November-February), it may already be dark by 4 PM. This does not affect transport availability but is worth knowing. Roads are well-maintained and cleared of snow. Taxi and transfer drivers are experienced with winter conditions.
