Bergen Airport Flesland is 16 km south of Bergen city centre — Avinor puts the drive at about 18 minutes in normal traffic. Norway is an expensive country, but the Bybanen light rail keeps the airport journey affordable.

The light rail fare is Skyss's published one-zone adult single, in force from 1 February 2026. Children under 6 ride free, a child aged 6-17 pays NOK 26, and an adult with a valid ticket can bring up to four children free.
The taxi line has no figure in it on purpose. Norway deregulated taxi pricing in 2020: each company sets its own starting charge and per-km and per-minute rates, so no single number describes "a taxi from Flesland". Avinor's answer is the Fast Travel kiosks in the terminal — book there, scan the QR code, and read the price before you accept the trip. Drivers must also state the fixed price before setting off.
Destinations beyond Bergen centre
Bryggen, the Fish Market, Nordnes, Sandviken and the Skolten cruise terminal are all in or beside the city centre, so they are all much the same short run from the airport. Voss (about 90 minutes) and Hardanger (about 70 minutes) are a different matter entirely — long journeys where you should get a quote in advance from a taxi operator or transfer provider rather than trusting a range on a web page.
Saving money on transport
The Bybanen is dramatically cheaper than any other option. If you are on a budget, it is the clear choice. A few tips:
- Travelling with children is where the light rail really wins. Under-6s are free, and one adult with a valid ticket can bring up to four children along for nothing. A family often pays nothing beyond the adult fares.
- Consider a 24-hour ticket on the Skyss app if you plan several journeys the same day. Skyss publishes the current price — check it there.
- Get the taxi price from the kiosk before you accept. With seven operators setting their own rates, this is the only way to know what you are paying, and it takes seconds.
- Expect to pay more at night and at weekends. Every operator charges more then; the kiosk will show you what.
Payment methods
Norway is nearly cashless. Credit and debit cards are accepted everywhere: taxis, ticket machines, shops, even the smallest kiosk. You do not need to carry Norwegian kroner in cash. The Skyss app for Bybanen tickets also accepts card payment, and the platform machines are card-only.
