Ezeiza Airport to Buenos Aires – What You Actually Need to Know

Ezeiza Ministro Pistarini Airport (EZE) sits roughly 35 km southwest of central Buenos Aires. The ride into Microcentro, Palermo, or Recoleta takes 40–80 minutes depending on traffic and time of day. Rush hour on the Autopista Riccheri and General Paz ring road can easily double your travel time.

Your main options are a pre-booked private transfer, an official airport taxi, the Tienda León bus-shuttle (ARS 16,500 per person to its Terminal Pellegrini, per the operator's own site), or a remis (licensed sedan). Argentina's prices move fast with inflation, so agree the fare before you set off and check the operator's own site for the current one. Rideshare apps like Uber work but operate in a legal grey area and pickups can be complicated at EZE.

After clearing immigration and customs — which can take 30–60 minutes on busy mornings when multiple long-haul flights land together — you emerge into the arrivals hall. The terminal is straightforward: a single main building with arrivals on the ground floor.

You will immediately see the Tienda Leon counter on your left, several remis and taxi counters, and currency exchange booths. ATMs are available but often have long queues and withdrawal limits. The free airport Wi-Fi works reasonably well for getting your bearings.

If you have a pre-booked transfer, your driver will typically wait in the arrivals hall holding a name sign, or just outside the exit doors in the designated pickup area. The key thing to know: do not follow anyone who approaches you unsolicited offering taxi rides.

Why so few numbers? Argentine peso prices are revised constantly with inflation, and apart from Tienda León's own published fare there is no authoritative tariff to quote. A figure printed here would be wrong within months — and wrong in a way that looks freshly checked. Every option above except the bus sells you a price before you ride, so ask at the counter and you'll know exactly what you're paying.

The Tienda León shuttle is the budget option, running to its own Terminal Pellegrini. From there you will still need a taxi or the subway to your hotel, adding 15–30 minutes and a fare worth asking about on the day.

Uber and Cabify technically work, but drivers sometimes ask you to sit in the front seat and the pickup logistics at EZE can be confusing. Prices fluctuate with demand.

Prices vary by destination — Microcentro, San Telmo and Puerto Madero sit at the lower end, Palermo and Recoleta a little higher, and Ezeiza town (the nearest) far below all of them. Tienda León publishes its own fares: at the time of writing its site lists ARS 16,500 per person from Ezeiza to its Terminal Pellegrini in the city (about an hour), and ARS 17,000 to Aeroparque. Note it does not run to Terminal Madero or Retiro. Argentine fares are revised frequently with inflation, so treat that figure as a marker and check tiendaleon.com before you travel.

Tolls on the Autopista Riccheri are usually included in pre-booked transfers but may be extra with taxis. Always confirm before departing.

EZE receives flights at all hours, including many long-haul arrivals from Europe and North America landing between 22:00 and 02:00. The good news: late-night traffic is minimal, so the drive into the city drops to a smooth 35–45 minutes.

The bad news: the Tienda Leon bus runs reduced service after midnight, and finding a good taxi at 1 AM means relying on whatever is available at the counter. A pre-booked transfer is strongly recommended for late arrivals — your driver will be there regardless of delays, and you avoid negotiating with tired taxi drivers at odd hours.

The airport itself stays open 24 hours with basic amenities, but food options thin out considerably after midnight.

If you are traveling with children, car seats are not standard in Argentine taxis or remis services. A pre-booked transfer is the only reliable way to request a child seat in advance.

Luggage space in standard taxis can be tight if you have more than two large suitcases. The Tienda León bus has a luggage compartment but you will need to handle your own bags when transferring to a taxi at its city terminal.

The walk from arrivals to the parking area is short and mostly covered. There are trolleys available inside the terminal but not always outside.

For pre-booked transfers, drivers wait in the arrivals hall near the exit doors, holding a sign with your name. Some services also send a WhatsApp message with the driver's photo and location.

For official taxis and remis, go to the counters inside the arrivals hall — never accept rides from people approaching you on the curb. Pay at the counter, receive a voucher, and then proceed to the vehicle.

The Tienda Leon counter is clearly signed on the left side of the arrivals hall. Their buses depart from a stop just outside the terminal, a 2-minute walk.

Choose a pre-booked transfer if: you want a fixed price with no surprises, you are arriving late at night, you have children who need car seats, or you simply do not want to figure out logistics after a long flight.

Choose Tienda León if: you are on a tight budget, traveling light, and your hotel is near its Terminal Pellegrini (Pellegrini 971, central Buenos Aires). Be prepared for the extra connection.

Choose an official taxi if: you are comfortable negotiating in Buenos Aires, traveling light, and arriving during normal hours.

Skip Uber at EZE if: this is your first time in Buenos Aires. The pickup logistics are not worth the potential savings.
