Ajaccio Airport is only 5 km from the center, so getting into town is quick and relatively cheap. Here's what each option costs.
Shuttle bus — the cheapest option
The CAPAMOVE shuttle bus runs between the airport and Ajaccio city centre.
- Price: €8 per trip for non-residents (CAPAMOVE, from 28 January 2026)
- Journey time: About 20 minutes with stops
- Frequency: Every 15 minutes Monday to Saturday; every 30 minutes evenings, Sundays and public holidays
- Runs until: Evening — check the current seasonal timetable
- Payment: Buy before you board. There are no ticket sales on the bus. Use the CAPAMOVE app or SMS. Turning up at the stop with cash will not get you on.
It's basic but works for solo travelers or couples with light luggage. The bus drops you at the train station area, so if your hotel is on the other side of town, you'll need to walk or take a local bus.
Taxi — quick and convenient
Corsican taxis run on a tariff the prefecture resets every year. For 2026: the meter starts at 2,17 EUR, then charges 1,29 EUR/km by day (Mon-Sat 07:00-19:00) or 1,93 EUR/km at night, on Sundays and on public holidays — doubling to 2,58 EUR and 3,87 EUR when the driver returns to the rank empty. Minimum fare 8,00 EUR. A coloured light on the meter shows which rate is running. (Arrêté préfectoral of 5 February 2026, Corse-du-Sud.)
Over the 5 km into Ajaccio: roughly 9-15 EUR by day, roughly 12-22 EUR at night and on Sundays. The port and the city beaches are closer in, so shorter runs land at or near the 8,00 EUR minimum by day.
There is no flat night or Sunday supplement on a Corsican taxi — a common misunderstanding. What changes is the per-kilometre rate itself:
- Night (7 PM - 7 AM), Sundays and public holidays: the rate rises by exactly 50% (1,93 EUR/km instead of 1,29 EUR/km, or 3,87 EUR instead of 2,58 EUR on the empty-return rate)
- Oversized bags, or a fourth suitcase: +€2
- From the fifth passenger: +€4
Taxi meters in Corsica use the standard French taxi tariff system (A/B/C rates). The airport run is short enough that the fare stays reasonable.

You are quoted the price before you book, so you can weigh it against the metered figures above yourself — and you get a meet-and-greet service and guaranteed availability, which is the real argument for it on a small seasonal airport where the rank can be empty.

Important note about Corsica
Corsica is not cheap. It's part of France but island pricing applies — expect to pay 10-20% more than mainland France for most things. Transport is no exception. If you're traveling during July-August peak season, prices for everything increase.
Beyond Ajaccio — transfer costs
If your accommodation is outside Ajaccio, here are typical transfer costs:
| Destination | Distance | Drive time |
|---|---|---|
| Porticcio | 20 km | 25 min |
| Propriano | 70 km | 1h 15 min |
| Porto | 80 km | 1h 30 min |
| Corte | 80 km | 1h 15 min |
| Bonifacio | 130 km | 2h 45 min |
Transfer prices for these are quoted and fixed when you book. A taxi over these distances runs on the empty-return rate (2,58 EUR/km by day, 3,87 EUR/km at night and on Sundays), which is why almost nobody takes one this far.
For distances over 30 km, renting a car is almost always cheaper unless you're a large group splitting a transfer.
