Victoria Falls Airport is about 18 km from the town center. There is no public transport, so your options come down to a lodge pickup, a pre-booked transfer, or an informal taxi. All transactions in Victoria Falls are handled in US Dollars.

Many lodges, hotels, and safari operators in the Victoria Falls area include airport transfers in their rates. Before you spend anything on transport, check your booking confirmation or email your accommodation. This is the most common way visitors get from VFA to their lodging, and if it is included, there is nothing more to arrange.
Pre-Booked Private Transfer
If your accommodation does not provide a pickup, a pre-booked transfer is the most reliable alternative. Prices are per vehicle, not per person:
- Victoria Falls town center: 25-35 USD
- Lodges along Zambezi Drive: 30-40 USD
- The Elephant Camp / Stanley and Livingstone: 35-45 USD
- Livingstone, Zambia: 50-80 USD (border crossing adds time)
- Kasane, Botswana: 80-120 USD
Informal Taxis
Drivers wait outside the terminal and will approach you as you exit. Fares are negotiable. A fair price to Victoria Falls town is 20-35 USD, though opening offers may be higher. You will need to agree on a number before getting in the car.
The vehicle quality varies. Some are fine, others have seen better days. For a short ride to town during daylight, this is a workable option. For longer distances or evening arrivals, it is less advisable.
What About Ride-Hailing Apps
Uber and similar services do not operate in Victoria Falls. Do not count on app-based transport here.
Currency and Payment
Bring US Dollar cash. While some transfer services accept card payment through their online booking, informal taxis are cash-only. ATMs at the airport exist but are not always stocked. Having USD on hand before you arrive is strongly recommended.
Small denominations help. A 100 USD bill for a 25 USD fare is awkward — drivers may not have change. Aim to carry 5, 10, and 20 USD notes.
Is It Worth Spending More on a Transfer

Given that you get a confirmed vehicle, a known driver, flight tracking, and no negotiation, most travelers find the small premium worthwhile.
