Marseille Airport is 27 km from the city center. Taxi fares are regulated by the prefecture, but they are metered rather than fixed — so the number that matters is the tariff, not a headline price.
Shuttle bus — best value
The airport shuttle (Navette) to Gare Saint-Charles:
- Price: Fares changed on 1 July 2026 and the airport no longer publishes a headline price. Check marseille.aeroport.fr for the current fare and any child or return discounts before you travel.
- Journey: About 25 minutes
- Frequency: Every 10 minutes between 07:00 and 20:00, less often outside those hours
- First/last from the airport: About 04:05 to 01:50 (the late service is May-October — check your date)
- Buy tickets: Online, from machines at the stop, at the counter, or on board
The shuttle drops you at Gare Saint-Charles, Marseille's main train and metro station. From there, the metro takes you anywhere in the city, or walk 10 minutes downhill to the Vieux Port.
Aix-en-Provence shuttle: A separate bus runs to Aix every 30 minutes and takes about 30 minutes. Its fare also changed on 1 July 2026 — check before you travel.
Taxi — metered, with an official estimate
There is no airport forfait at Marseille. Marseille airport taxis are metered on the Bouches-du-Rhone prefectural kilometric tariff, not a flat airport fare. The airport's own estimate is about 60 EUR by day and 70 EUR at night to reach Marseille or Aix, excluding extras such as baggage and tolls (Marseille Provence Airport, checked July 2026). Tariffs are revised periodically, so confirm with the driver before you set off.
| Destination | Airport's day estimate | Airport's night estimate |
|---|---|---|
| Marseille center (any arrondissement) | ~€60 | ~€70 |
| Aix-en-Provence center | ~€60 | ~€70 |

Extra charges: The airport notes its estimate excludes supplements such as baggage and tolls. Ask the driver what applies before you set off.
Pre-booked transfer
| Vehicle | Price to Marseille | Price to Aix |
|---|---|---|
| Economy sedan | €45-55 | €50-65 |
| Comfort sedan | €55-70 | €60-80 |
| Minivan | €60-90 | €70-100 |
| Luxury sedan | €80-110 | €90-120 |
Transfer prices are competitive with a metered taxi, with the added benefit of a price agreed up front, meet-and-greet and pre-booking.

No Uber, no metro
Two things that would change this picture don't exist at Marseille Airport:
- Uber: Barely operational in Marseille. Don't rely on it.
- Metro/train connection: No rail link to the airport. The shuttle bus is the only public transport.
This means your choices are genuinely limited to the shuttle bus, taxis, transfers, or car rental.
Going further in Provence
| Destination | Distance | Transfer cost |
|---|---|---|
| Cassis | 45 km | Fixed, quoted at booking |
| La Ciotat | 50 km | Fixed, quoted at booking |
| Arles | 80 km | Fixed, quoted at booking |
| Avignon | 80 km | Fixed, quoted at booking |
| Toulon | 80 km | Fixed, quoted at booking |
| Nice | 200 km | Fixed, quoted at booking |
For Provence destinations, renting a car is usually the best value. The region has limited public transport between towns.
