Zvartnots handles a significant number of late-night and early-morning flights. Routes from Moscow, Dubai, Doha, Tehran, and several European cities often arrive between 11 PM and 4 AM. The airport is fully set up for this.
What stays open
The terminal operates around the clock for arriving flights. Currency exchange booths stay open to serve incoming passengers. SIM card kiosks in the arrivals hall are usually staffed for late arrivals — if not, you can pick one up in the city the next day. ATMs are available 24/7. The small cafe in the arrivals area may or may not be open, but you can at least buy water from a vending machine.
Getting to the city at night
GG and Yandex Go both work at night. Driver availability is lower than during the day, but Yerevan has enough drivers that you should get a car within 5-15 minutes even at 2 AM. Prices may be slightly higher due to surge/demand pricing, but the difference is usually small — perhaps 3,500-5,000 AMD instead of the daytime 2,500-4,000.
Terminal taxis are available at night and will try to charge more. Late-night quotes of 8,000-12,000 AMD ($20-30) are common. With an app as an alternative, there is no reason to accept these rates.
The airport bus (201) does not run late at night. Last departures are typically around 10-11 PM. Do not count on it for overnight arrivals.
Pre-booked transfers work at any hour. For flights arriving between midnight and 5 AM, this is the most stress-free option. Your driver adjusts to your actual landing time and will be in the arrivals hall when you clear immigration.
The drive
The road from EVN to central Yerevan at night is quiet, well-lit on the main stretch, and takes about 15-20 minutes without traffic. It is actually a pleasant drive — you can see the city lights and, on a clear night, Mount Ararat in the distance.
Safety
Yerevan is a safe city, and the airport and the road to the centre are well-travelled even at late hours. There are no safety concerns specific to night arrivals beyond the universal advice of using licensed transport.
Practical checklist for night arrivals
- Download GG or Yandex Go before your flight and add a payment method.
- If you want guaranteed transport with no wait, book a transfer.
- Exchange some cash at the airport — the counters are open.
- Have your hotel address ready on your phone. Most drivers navigate by app, but it helps to have it.
- Check your hotel's check-in policy for late arrivals. Most Yerevan hotels accommodate this, but a heads-up call is courteous.
