Getting from Eindhoven Airport to your destination

Eindhoven Airport (EIN) is just 8km from the city center, about 15 minutes by car. The airport bus (400/401) takes you to Eindhoven Station in about 25 minutes; the operator's Eindhoven Airport ticket costs 5.15 EUR one way. A taxi from the rank is metered against the national maximum tariff, which caps the 8 km run at roughly 37 EUR before waiting time, and a private transfer runs about 25-40 EUR. Eindhoven is a budget airline hub (Ryanair, Transavia, Wizz Air), so many travelers are watching their budget — the bus works great for most people.

Eindhoven Airport is a small, single-terminal airport. After baggage claim, you walk through a compact arrivals hall and exit directly outside. Everything is within a 2-minute walk: bus stop, taxi rank, pickup area.

The airport handles a lot of low-cost traffic, so it can feel crowded when several Ryanair flights land close together. But it's still small enough to navigate in minutes.

There's a small shop and café inside, plus ATMs. Don't expect the facilities of Schiphol — this is a no-frills airport.

Airport Bus 400/401 (Bravo/Hermes) — The standard choice. Direct bus to Eindhoven Station (Centraal Station). Hermes, the operator, sells an Eindhoven Airport ticket at 5.15 EUR one way, valid on lines 20, 400 and 401. Runs several times an hour. Takes about 25 minutes including stops. You can also tap a contactless bank card or OV-chipkaart, in which case Dutch buses charge by distance rather than a flat fare. Check hermes.nl for the current price.

Bus 400 — Similar route, slightly different stops. Also goes to Eindhoven Station.

Taxi — Available at the rank outside arrivals. The Netherlands caps hail-and-rank taxi fares by law. For a car carrying up to four people the 2026 maximum is 4.31 EUR to start, plus 3.17 EUR per kilometre and 0.52 EUR per minute (Dutch government maximum tariff, in force since 1 January 2026). For a van carrying 5-8 the maximum is 8.77 EUR to start, plus 4.00 EUR per km and 0.59 EUR per minute. Those are ceilings, not fixed prices — a driver may charge less, but not more. On those numbers the 8 km, roughly 15-minute run into the centre works out at about 37 EUR at the ceiling, before any extra waiting time in traffic. The maximum is revised each January, so check the current one before you travel.

Private Transfer — Pre-booked at 25-40 EUR to Eindhoven center. Makes sense for groups and families. Also useful if you're heading somewhere other than central Eindhoven.

Rental Car — Available at the airport. Eindhoven is easy to drive in and park (by Dutch standards). Useful if you're visiting the Brainport tech region.

Many people use Eindhoven as a gateway to Amsterdam — that's a 1.5-hour drive or 1.5-hour train ride. If that's you, take the bus to Eindhoven Station and catch a train; check ns.nl for the current rail fare. A direct transfer to Amsterdam costs 150-200 EUR.

How to read the taxi column: these are the legal ceilings from the Dutch national maximum tariff (4.31 EUR start + 3.17 EUR/km + 0.52 EUR/min for a car up to four people, in force since 1 January 2026), worked out over the distance shown plus typical driving time. A driver may charge less. The cap applies to taxis you hail or take from the rank — it does not apply to rides you book in advance, where the price is whatever you agree. The tariff is revised each January.

Eindhoven Airport has a curfew — most flights land before 11 PM. The last buses run until about midnight. After that, you need a taxi or pre-booked transfer. The taxi rank usually has cars for the last flights of the evening.

If you're on a very late Ryanair flight (delays happen), make sure you have a backup plan — either a pre-booked transfer or the taxi company's number.

The airport bus is fine for light luggage but gets crowded when multiple budget flights land. With kids and suitcases, it's manageable but not comfortable.

For families, a taxi or transfer is a sensible spend. Request a minivan for larger families (35-55 EUR for a booked transfer; a rank van seating 5-8 is capped at 8.77 EUR to start plus 4.00 EUR per km and 0.59 EUR per minute). Child seats should be requested in advance with a transfer — Dutch taxis don't carry them.

Taxi: Rank directly outside arrivals.

Transfer: Drivers wait outside the arrivals exit or in the small pickup zone. With such a small airport, finding each other is never an issue.

Take the bus if: You're heading to Eindhoven city center or station, traveling light, and watching your budget. At 5.15 EUR, it's an easy choice.

Take a taxi if: You have luggage, it's late, or you're going somewhere specific in the Eindhoven area.

Book a transfer if: You're a family, need child seats, heading to Tilburg/Den Bosch/Amsterdam, or want fixed pricing.

Take the train from Eindhoven Station if: You're heading to Amsterdam, Rotterdam, Utrecht, or elsewhere in the Netherlands — Eindhoven is well-connected by rail.
