EIN - Eindhoven

How much does it cost to get from Eindhoven Airport to the city?

Last updated: April 2026

Eindhoven Airport is just 8 km from the city. The Netherlands uses the Euro, so no currency confusion. Here's what everything costs.

The budget option: Airport bus 401

Bus 401 runs directly to Eindhoven Station. Cost: about 4-5 EUR per person. Tap your contactless bank card or OV-chipkaart. Runs every 10-15 minutes, takes about 25 minutes.

For two people: 8-10 EUR. Still the cheapest door-to-station option.

Buying from the driver with cash costs a bit more — about 5-6 EUR. Use a card if you can.

Taxi pricing

Dutch taxis are not cheap — the Netherlands has some of the highest taxi fares in Europe. For a short 8 km ride:

DestinationTaxi fare
Eindhoven Centraal25-32 EUR
Eindhoven city center (Stratumseind area)25-35 EUR
High Tech Campus20-28 EUR
Strijp-S22-30 EUR
Veldhoven28-38 EUR

Dutch taxis start the meter at about 3 EUR and charge around 2.40 EUR per km plus waiting time. Tips aren't expected but rounding up is common.

Going further: costs to other cities

Many budget travelers use Eindhoven as a cheap entry point to the Netherlands. Here's what it costs to get elsewhere:

DestinationBus + TrainTaxiTransfer
Tilburg5 + 9 = ~14 EUR60-80 EUR55-70 EUR
Den Bosch5 + 9 = ~14 EUR60-80 EUR55-70 EUR
Utrecht5 + 20 = ~25 EUR120-160 EUR110-140 EUR
Amsterdam5 + 22 = ~27 EUR200-250 EUR150-200 EUR
Maastricht5 + 22 = ~27 EUR120-150 EUR100-130 EUR

Bus + Train = bus 401 to Eindhoven Station + NS train. Always the cheapest long-distance option.

The math: when does a transfer save money?

Group sizeBus 401 to EIN StationTaxiTransfer
1 person5 EUR25-32 EUR25-38 EUR
2 people10 EUR25-32 EUR25-38 EUR
3 people15 EUR25-35 EUR25-38 EUR
4 people20 EUR30-40 EUR*38-55 EUR (minivan)

*Four people with luggage may need a van taxi, which costs more.

The bus remains cheapest for all group sizes to the station. But for door-to-hotel service with 3+ people, a transfer starts being reasonable value.

Bottom line

The bus is hard to beat at 5 EUR. Dutch taxis are expensive for what you get, so if you want a car, a pre-booked transfer at a fixed price is often the smarter choice. If you're heading to Amsterdam, the bus + train combo at ~27 EUR is significantly cheaper than a 150+ EUR transfer.
