Boryspil Airport (KBP) – How to Get to Kyiv

Boryspil International Airport is about 35 km east of central Kyiv. The SkyBus express to Kyiv Central Railway Station costs 100 UAH (~2.30 EUR) and takes 40–60 minutes. A taxi runs 600–1,000 UAH (~14–23 EUR), and a pre-booked private transfer costs 800–1,400 UAH (~18–32 EUR) with a driver waiting at arrivals.

KBP has two terminals. Terminal D handles most international flights and is the newer, more modern building. Terminal F serves some low-cost and charter flights. Both have baggage claim on the ground floor.

After collecting your luggage, you pass through customs (usually quick for EU and visa-free nationals). Currency exchange booths are in the arrivals hall, though rates are better in the city. ATMs accepting international cards are available near the exits.

The arrivals hall can feel busy, especially when multiple flights land close together. Ignore anyone who approaches you offering taxi rides inside the terminal. These are unofficial drivers who typically charge two to three times the normal rate.

The SkyBus departs from outside Terminal D every 15–30 minutes during the day and runs through the night with reduced frequency. It is clean, has luggage space, and accepts cash or card.

The Boryspil Express train is another budget option running to Kyiv's main station. Check the schedule as departures are less frequent than the bus.

Uber and Bolt both operate at KBP and are the safest way to get a fair taxi price. Download the app before landing. Cash is accepted by most drivers, but card payment through the app is smoother.

Prices depend heavily on traffic. Rush hour (8–10 AM, 5–8 PM) can add 20–40 minutes and push rideshare prices up due to surge. The highway from Boryspil to Kyiv is generally in good condition but narrows as you approach the city.

KBP receives flights throughout the night, particularly from the Middle East and Asia. The SkyBus runs a reduced night schedule (roughly every 60 minutes after midnight), which is usable but requires patience.

Uber and Bolt work at night but with fewer drivers. Wait times of 10–20 minutes are normal after midnight. Surge pricing is less dramatic than daytime rush hour since traffic is light.

A pre-booked transfer is the most comfortable night option. The driver tracks your flight and waits regardless of delays.

Terminal D has elevators and is reasonably accessible. Luggage trolleys are available for free in the baggage claim area.

The SkyBus has luggage compartments but can get crowded. If you are traveling with small children, car seats, and multiple suitcases, a private transfer or Uber with a larger vehicle (order UberXL through the app) is the practical choice.

Ukrainian traffic can be assertive. Child car seats are legally required for children under 12, but taxis rarely have them. Private transfer services usually provide them on request.

Uber/Bolt: Follow signs to the pickup area outside Terminal D. The app will show the designated pickup point.

Private transfers: Drivers typically wait inside the arrivals hall with a name sign. Meeting point details are sent before your flight. Some drivers wait at the curb if the terminal is crowded.

Important: Terminal F is a short walk or free shuttle from Terminal D. Confirm which terminal your flight arrives at before arranging pickup.

Choose Uber/Bolt if you want door-to-door service at a fair price and are comfortable using ride-hailing apps.

Choose a private transfer if you want a fixed price, guaranteed pickup at any hour, or need a child seat. Especially sensible for late arrivals, families, or anyone unfamiliar with Kyiv.
