Agadir Al Massira Airport to City Centre — What You Actually Need to Know

Agadir Al Massira Airport (AGA) sits about 70 km southeast of Agadir city centre. That is not a short ride — expect 50 to 70 minutes depending on traffic and your final destination along the coast. There is no train or metro connection. Your realistic options are a pre-booked private transfer, a grand taxi, or the infrequent public bus. Most travellers pre-book a transfer because the distance is significant and negotiating with taxi drivers after a long flight is not everyone's idea of a good start to a holiday.

AGA is a relatively modern terminal that handles both domestic and international flights. After passport control — which can take 15 to 40 minutes depending on how many charter flights land at once — you collect your luggage and walk through a small customs area. The arrivals hall is straightforward but not large.

Once you exit, you will see a row of transfer company representatives holding name signs on the left side, and the taxi rank is directly outside the terminal doors. There are a few car rental counters inside the terminal as well.

The airport has a currency exchange bureau in the arrivals hall, but rates are not great. There are also ATMs that dispense Moroccan dirhams (MAD). It is worth having some cash for smaller purchases, though most hotels and larger restaurants accept cards.

The public bus (line 22) runs between the airport and Agadir city centre, but service is infrequent and not available late at night. It is cheap but slow, and not practical with heavy luggage.

The 70 km distance means this is not a cheap airport transfer by any standard. For a private taxi from AGA to central Agadir, expect to pay 400–600 MAD (roughly €37–€55). Drivers at the rank will often start higher and expect you to negotiate.

For destinations further along the coast like Taghazout (about 85 km) or Essaouira (about 270 km), prices increase significantly. A transfer to Taghazout runs 350–500 MAD (€32–€46), while Essaouira is a separate journey entirely at 1,500–2,500 MAD (€140–€230).

AGA receives charter flights from Europe throughout the evening and into the night. If you land after 22:00, the public bus will not be running and the grand taxi situation becomes unpredictable — fewer drivers, longer waits, and higher prices.

Pre-booking a transfer is strongly recommended for late arrivals. Your driver will track your flight and wait even if it is delayed. Walking out of the terminal at midnight with luggage and trying to negotiate a fair price in an unfamiliar country is not ideal, especially after a long journey.

The 70 km distance makes comfort important, especially with children. A grand taxi with three adults and luggage is already tight — add a child seat requirement and it becomes impractical.

Pre-booked transfers can include child seats and booster seats if you request them in advance. This matters because Moroccan taxis do not carry child restraints, and the road from the airport to Agadir includes some fast-moving sections.

Rent a car if: you plan to explore the Souss-Massa region, visit Taroudant, or drive the coast. The road from AGA to Agadir is a good dual carriageway.
