Hyderabad Airport handles a significant number of late-night and early-morning flights, particularly from the Gulf region (Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Doha, Muscat) and Southeast Asia. Many flights arrive between 23:00 and 04:00. Here is what to expect.

The surge pricing reality
This is the key issue with late-night arrivals at HYD. Uber and Ola are available around the clock, but surge pricing is standard between midnight and 05:00 - the same ride costs materially more at 2:00 AM than it does at midday. The app will show you the fare before you confirm, so you will see exactly what the hour is costing you. If that is a problem, the pre-paid counter and a pre-booked transfer are both immune to surge.
Driver availability also drops. You might wait 10-20 minutes for a car to be assigned, and cancellations are more common at night.
Pre-paid taxi: the late-night default
The pre-paid taxi counter inside arrivals operates 24 hours with fixed rates that do not change at night. That is what makes it the sensible default after midnight: while the app cabs are surging, the counter charges the same rate it charged at noon.
The rates are posted on a board at the counter, by destination. Read the one for your destination - it is the authoritative, current number and it is right in front of you before you pay. We are not reproducing a rate table here, because a fare list on a web page goes stale silently and the board never does.
No surge, no negotiation, and a receipt with your assigned car number.
Private transfer at night
A pre-booked private transfer is the most comfortable late-night option. Your driver tracks the flight, waits in the arrivals hall with your name, and charges the rate you agreed at booking - no surge, whatever time you land.
For families or first-time India visitors arriving at 3:00 AM, this removes all stress. The driver is there regardless of flight delays, and the vehicle is clean and comfortable.
Safety at night
Hyderabad Airport is safe at all hours. The terminal is well-lit and staffed 24/7. The drive to the city uses the ORR expressway, which is a modern, well-lit highway.
Standard precautions apply: use only official transport options, share your ride details with someone, and avoid unlicensed drivers who approach you in the terminal.
Waiting it out
If your flight lands at 02:00 and you want to avoid surge pricing, the terminal has seating, a few 24-hour food outlets, and free Wi-Fi. The first Pushpak buses resume around 04:30-05:00 and app-cab surge typically drops by 05:00. Waiting 2-3 hours will save you real money on the fare - compare the app's 02:00 quote against the pre-paid counter rate before you decide - though most travelers prefer to just get to their hotel.
