Hyderabad Airport to City Center: What You Actually Need to Know

You will immediately be approached by taxi touts and drivers offering rides. The standard advice applies: ignore them and head to the official options. The pre-paid taxi counter is inside the arrivals hall before the exit. The Pushpak bus stop is to the right as you exit. The app cab pickup zone is marked with signs.

ATMs and currency exchange are available in the arrivals hall. SIM card vendors (Jio, Airtel) are just outside arrivals. Getting a local SIM with data is highly recommended for app-based cabs and navigation.

Pushpak buses are government-run AC buses connecting the airport to key city points including Secunderabad, Ameerpet, Mehdipatnam, and MGBS. They are clean, air-conditioned, and reliable. Departures roughly every 20-30 minutes. The downside is time, especially if your destination is not near a bus stop.

Uber and Ola are the default choice for most travelers. Both apps work well at Hyderabad airport. The pickup zone is clearly marked. Prices are transparent and paid through the app. Surge pricing can apply during peak hours and late nights, but even then it rarely exceeds INR 1,500 to the center.

Pre-paid taxis operate from the counter inside arrivals. You tell them your destination, pay the fixed rate, and get a receipt with your assigned car number. No meter, no negotiation. Rates are higher than app cabs but the process is straightforward if you do not have the apps.

Auto-rickshaws via apps are available and cheap, but not suitable for anyone with more than a small bag. The 25 km ride is also quite long in an auto.
