Eindhoven Airport with kids: keeping it simple

Last updated: April 2026

Eindhoven Airport is small and manageable — good news for families. But since it's primarily a budget airline hub, flights often arrive packed and the terminal gets busy. Here's how to handle it.

The bus with kids

The bus to Eindhoven Station costs 5.15 EUR per adult on the operator's Eindhoven Airport ticket; check hermes.nl for the current child and infant rules. It's a regular city bus — not designed for families with gear. When three Ryanair flights land at once, the bus is standing-room only.

With one child and a carry-on: fine. With a stroller, luggage, and multiple kids: skip it.

Taxi with kids

The taxi rank is right outside. The regulated ceiling puts the short run into town at roughly 37 EUR, which is reasonable enough for a door-to-door ride. But Dutch taxis don't carry child seats. If your kids are big enough to use a regular seatbelt, taxis work. Otherwise, you need a transfer.

Eindhoven for families

Eindhoven is a tech city (Philips, ASML), but it has some great family spots:

  • Efteling — world-class theme park, 45 min drive. Consider a transfer if you're going straight there from the airport
  • Philips Museum — interactive, kids love it
  • Stadswandelpark — nice city park for running around
  • Strijp-S — creative neighborhood with spaces kids enjoy

If you're heading to Efteling

Many families fly into Eindhoven specifically for Efteling. It's about 45 km / 40 minutes by car. A transfer costs about 55-75 EUR — much more comfortable than bus-train-bus with kids and luggage. A taxi is worth agreeing a price for in advance: the national maximum tariff only caps rides from the rank, not pre-booked ones.

Our advice

For families with young children: book a transfer with child seats. The airport is small, the ride is short, and the cost (25-55 EUR depending on vehicle) is fair against a metered taxi that can reach the high 30s at the regulated ceiling. If your kids don't need car seats and you're heading to Eindhoven center, a taxi is also fine. Just don't try the packed budget-flight bus with a stroller — you'll regret it.
