Kota Kinabalu International Airport handles several late-night arrivals, particularly flights from Kuala Lumpur (AirAsia, Malaysia Airlines) and regional connections from Manila, Seoul, and Shenzhen. Here is what to expect after 10 PM.

What is open

The airport stays open for all scheduled arrivals. Immigration at Terminal 1 (international) is staffed around the clock. The arrivals hall has a few convenience stores and a currency exchange counter, though the exchange booth may close after 11 PM. ATMs are available 24/7.

Transport after dark

Grab is the most popular option in Kota Kinabalu. It works reasonably well at night, though wait times increase after midnight — expect 10-20 minutes versus 5-10 during the day. Fares can be a little higher at night; the app shows the fare before you confirm.

Airport taxis operate from the counter in the arrivals hall. The counter is open for all arriving flights. Fixed fares apply regardless of time:
