Why Grab is so much cheaper

For these longer journeys, Grab is not practical. A pre-booked transfer with an experienced driver is the standard approach. These are genuine long drives on roads that wind through mountains and rainforest.

For the city center, Grab at MYR 15-25 is the obvious choice. The coupon taxi at MYR 30 is fine if you cannot use the app. For resorts and distant destinations, a private transfer is the only sensible option — and still remarkably affordable by international standards.
