How Much Does It Cost to Get from Pune Airport to the City?

Last updated: April 2026

Pune Airport is about 10 km from the city centre, but fares vary significantly based on your transport choice, destination, and the time of day you arrive.

Prepaid taxi fares

The prepaid taxi counter outside arrivals sets fixed fares by destination zone. These are reliable and non-negotiable, which is their main advantage: you pay at the counter and the price cannot change en route no matter what the traffic does.

We are not reproducing a zone rate card here. We could not verify the current fares against the airport or the transport authority, and prepaid tariffs are revised -- a list of rupee figures that looks precise but is a revision or two out of date would be worse than telling you plainly to read the board. The counter posts its current rates: check them there. Payment is cash only.

Roughly nearest-first, the common zones are Viman Nagar, Koregaon Park / Kalyani Nagar, the city centre (Camp, Deccan, Shivajinagar), Pimpri-Chinchwad, Kothrud / Warje, and Hinjewadi IT Park, which is the longest and dearest of these runs.

App cab fares (Ola / Uber)

App cabs are often cheaper than prepaid taxis during normal hours, but the app prices each trip when you book and surge pricing during peak hours (morning rush, evening flights, weekends) can push fares above prepaid taxi rates. There is no fixed figure to quote -- the estimate in the app is the only real one. Always check it before booking, and compare it against the prepaid board if you want the cheaper of the two.

The pickup zone for app cabs is a short walk from arrivals. Wait times are usually 5–10 minutes but can stretch during busy periods.

Pre-booked private transfer

Private transfers offer fixed pricing regardless of traffic or time of day. The fare depends on vehicle type and destination and is confirmed by the operator at booking -- we are not printing a rate card here, since we could not verify current figures against an authoritative source and a stale number would be worse than none. As a guide, a sedan to the city centre is the cheapest of these runs, an SUV costs more for the larger vehicle, and Hinjewadi and Lonavala cost more again for the greater distance. Ask your operator for the exact fare at booking.

The price typically includes 30–60 minutes of free waiting time after your flight lands, which covers baggage delays.

Auto-rickshaw

If you exit the airport perimeter on foot, auto-rickshaws will take you to nearby areas like Viman Nagar or Kalyani Nagar. They run on meters set by the regional transport authority -- insist the driver uses the meter rather than quoting a flat price -- plus a possible night surcharge. Not practical with more than one small bag.

What affects the price most

Traffic is the biggest factor in Pune. The distance to the city centre is modest, but during rush hours the journey can take over an hour — and app cab fares climb with time. If you are arriving between 5:30 PM and 8:30 PM, a fixed-price option (prepaid taxi or pre-booked transfer) protects you from both surge pricing and the stress of watching the meter tick.

Currency note

All prices are in Indian Rupees (INR). We no longer print a USD conversion here: an exchange rate written into a page ages the moment it is published, and quietly makes every figure around it wrong. Check a live rate if you need one. ATMs are available inside the terminal if you need cash on arrival.
