The good news about late-night arrivals in Pune: traffic is minimal. The same trip that takes an hour during rush hour may take only 20 minutes after 11 PM. Roads are well-paved on the main routes to the city centre, Hinjewadi, and the expressway to Mumbai or Lonavala.
Street lighting varies by area. Main roads are adequately lit, but some residential neighborhoods and the road to Hinjewadi IT Park have darker stretches.

Pune is generally safe at night by Indian city standards. The airport area (Lohegaon / Viman Nagar) is well-populated and commercial. Standard precautions apply: use recognized transport, share your ride details with someone, and avoid unmarked or unofficial vehicles.
