Eindhoven Airport is just 8 km from the city. The Netherlands uses the Euro, so no currency confusion. Here's what everything costs.
The budget option: Airport bus 400/401
Buses 400 and 401 run directly to Eindhoven Station. Hermes, the operator, sells an Eindhoven Airport ticket at 5.15 EUR one way (valid on lines 20, 400 and 401). Both lines run several times an hour and take about 25 minutes.
For two people on that ticket: 10.30 EUR. Still the cheapest door-to-station option.
You can also tap a contactless bank card or OV-chipkaart instead, in which case Dutch buses charge by distance rather than a flat fare — so what you pay depends on where you get off. Check hermes.nl for current prices.
Taxi pricing
Dutch taxis are not cheap, but they are regulated, so you can work out the worst case before you get in. The Netherlands caps hail-and-rank taxi fares by law. For a car carrying up to four people the 2026 maximum is 4.31 EUR to start, plus 3.17 EUR per kilometre and 0.52 EUR per minute (Dutch government maximum tariff, in force since 1 January 2026). For a van carrying 5-8 the maximum is 8.77 EUR to start, plus 4.00 EUR per km and 0.59 EUR per minute. Those are ceilings, not fixed prices — a driver may charge less, but not more.

Bus + Train = bus 400/401 to Eindhoven Station + NS train. Almost always the cheapest long-distance option — look up the rail leg on ns.nl, where fares vary by route and by how far ahead you book.
The national maximum taxi tariff only covers taxis you hail or take from a rank. For a long pre-booked run the price is whatever you agree with the operator, so get it in writing first.

Four people with luggage may need a van taxi, which has its own higher cap (8.77 EUR to start, 4.00 EUR per km, 0.59 EUR per minute) — about 55 EUR for the 8 km run at the ceiling.
The bus remains cheapest for all group sizes to the station. But for door-to-hotel service with 3+ people, a transfer starts being reasonable value.
Bottom line
The bus is hard to beat at 5.15 EUR. Dutch taxis are expensive for what you get — the regulated ceiling alone puts the 8 km into town near 37 EUR — so if you want a car, a pre-booked transfer at a fixed price is often the smarter choice. If you're heading to Amsterdam, the bus + train combo is significantly cheaper than a 150+ EUR transfer.
