Why the price gap between Uber and taxis?
Metered taxis at King Shaka charge per-kilometre rates that are generally higher than Uber's algorithmic pricing over this distance. We cannot put a number on the gap: there is no published airport taxi tariff to compare against, and the Uber side moves with demand. The taxi experience is not necessarily better — vehicles are similar, and the route is identical.

Tolls
The N2 between King Shaka Airport and Durban passes through a toll plaza. SANRAL sets and revises the tariff, so check the current one rather than a figure in a guide.
