Phu Quoc is affordable by Southeast Asian island standards, and airport transport costs reflect that. Here is what you will actually pay in 2026.
Taxi fares by destination
Metered taxis at Phu Quoc Airport are the most common way to reach your hotel, and by regional standards the fares are reasonable. What you pay is what the meter reads, and the meter rate is set by the individual taxi company rather than by any island-wide tariff — the opening charge and the per-kilometre rate differ between operators, and published figures for them disagree with each other. For that reason this guide does not print a fare table: check the rate card in the window of the cab you get into, and make sure the meter is running.

Other destinations
What you can plan around is distance. Long Beach and Duong Dong are short hops from the airport; Ong Lang and An Thoi are further; the northern end of the island — Starfish Beach, Ganh Dau and the Vinpearl area — is the longest and dearest run at 25-30 km. Some drivers may offer a flat rate instead of the meter, which is usually a little above what the meter would show but can be convenient for budgeting.
Grab pricing
Grab, Vietnam's dominant ride-hailing app, operates on Phu Quoc and generally undercuts a metered taxi. Its big advantage is that the app shows you the exact fare before you confirm, so there is nothing to estimate and nothing to negotiate — which is also why no figure is quoted here: the price is whatever the app says when you land. The catch: you need a working phone with data immediately after landing. Purchase a SIM card in the arrivals hall if you do not have roaming.
Pre-booked private transfers
Private transfers from the airport are quoted and fixed when you book, with the price depending on the destination and vehicle type. The premium over a taxi is modest, and you get a driver waiting with your name, no need for cash or a SIM card immediately, and a vehicle suited to your luggage.
For groups of 4-6 people, a minivan transfer is often cheaper per person than individual taxis and far more convenient.
Hotel shuttle costs
Many resorts include airport transfers in their room package or offer them for a set fee. The JW Marriott, InterContinental, and Vinpearl properties often have dedicated shuttle services. Check your booking confirmation or email the hotel directly. Complimentary transfers are common at 4-star and above properties.
Saving money on transport
The cheapest option is Grab, followed by metered taxis. If you are staying near Long Beach, you are very close to the airport and the fare is minimal. For the northern resorts, the distance is greater and the savings from comparing options become more meaningful. Regardless of method, Phu Quoc airport transport is one of the more affordable aspects of an island holiday.
