Brno Airport: Taxi or private transfer?

Last updated: April 2026

Let's be honest upfront: Brno Airport is small, the ride to the city is short, and both options are cheap. The differences are minor, but here they are.

We do not print taxi fares for BRQ because there is no fixed airport tariff to quote — firms set their own, and a number printed here would be a guess. For short city rides the taxi is normally the cheaper of the two; for longer trips like Mikulov, a transfer's fixed price removes the uncertainty entirely.

When the taxi wins

  • Almost always for city rides — it's cheaper and the airport is small enough that there's no hassle finding one
  • Spontaneous travel — no booking needed, just walk out and hop in
  • Solo travelers and couples — no need for the extra service

Brno isn't a city with a reputation for taxi scams, and drivers are generally straightforward. Even so, fares are not fixed by the airport or by us — confirm the rate before you set off, or use an app that shows the price first.

When the transfer wins

  • Families needing child seats — taxis won't have them
  • Groups of 4+ — a minivan transfer avoids the awkward luggage shuffle in a sedan
  • Heading to wine country — going to Mikulov, Znojmo, or Valtice? A transfer with a fixed price for a 55-70km drive makes more sense
  • Very late arrivals — guaranteed car waiting vs hoping a taxi is at the small airport rank
  • Peace of mind — if you prefer knowing your transport is sorted before landing

The Bolt factor

Bolt (ride-hailing app) works in Brno and is often slightly cheaper than traditional taxis. If you have the app, this is a great middle ground — app-based pricing transparency with the convenience of a regular taxi. Just make sure to have mobile data or airport WiFi.

Vehicle quality

Brno taxis are standard European sedans — Skodas, VWs, clean and functional. Transfer companies typically use similar vehicles, sometimes slightly nicer. The difference is negligible for an 8km ride.

Our honest take

For the typical traveler arriving at Brno Airport: just take a taxi or Bolt. The ride is short, cheap, and hassle-free. Save the transfer booking for situations where you genuinely need it — family with car seats, group needing a minivan, or a long ride into Moravia. The small price difference doesn't justify the planning effort for a simple city ride.
