Getting from Brno Airport to your destination

Brno-Turany Airport (BRQ) is a small regional airport just 8km from the city center, about 20 minutes by car. It handles mostly charter flights and some low-cost carriers. A private transfer costs about 15-25 EUR, and bus 76 connects to the city for 25 CZK. Taxis are metered but Brno firms set their own tariffs, so ask the rate at the rank or use Bolt, which quotes up front. For such a short ride, most people just take a taxi.

Brno Airport is tiny — one terminal, one baggage belt, no long walks. You'll be through arrivals in 10-15 minutes after landing. The terminal is simple and easy to navigate.

Outside arrivals, you'll find a small taxi rank and the bus stop. The airport doesn't get massive crowds, so waits are usually short. Everything is within a 2-minute walk.

Don't expect the infrastructure of a major hub — there are limited shops and services, but that also means less confusion and shorter queues.

Bus 76 — The budget option. Connects the airport to Hlavni nadrazi (main station) and the city center. The airport is inside Brno's zones 100 + 101, so a normal city ticket works: DPMB prices the 60-minute ticket at 25 CZK (12 CZK reduced). Runs every 20-30 minutes during the day, less frequently evenings and weekends. Takes about 25-30 minutes to the center. Perfectly fine if you're traveling light.

Taxi — The practical choice for most travelers. The ride to the centre is short, so it stays cheap, but there is no fixed airport fare and firms set their own tariffs — ask the rate before you get in. Use the cars at the official rank, or Bolt, which works in Brno and quotes the fare up front.

Private Transfer — Pre-booked car at arrivals. 15-25 EUR to the city center. Makes sense for families or if you want certainty, but honestly for Brno, a taxi works just as well for most people.

Rental Car — Available at the airport. Brno is drivable and parking is easier than Prague. If you're exploring Moravia, a car is useful.

Taxi fares are deliberately left out of this table. There is no fixed airport tariff at BRQ, so the only reliable number is the one you are quoted — ask at the rank, or use Bolt, which prices the trip before you accept it.

Czech Republic uses Czech Koruna (CZK), not the euro. Check the rate on the day.

Brno Airport doesn't have many late-night flights, but charter returns can land late. Bus 76 runs until about 11 PM and night bus N89 covers some routes. Realistically, after 11 PM, you're taking a taxi or a pre-booked transfer. Taxis should still be available at the rank for incoming flights, but calling ahead or using Bolt is smart for very late arrivals.

The airport is so small that navigating with kids and luggage is easy — no long walks or confusing terminals. Bus 76 is fine for families with older kids and light bags. For strollers and heavy luggage, just take a taxi — the ride is short and cheap enough that it is not worth the hassle of public transport.

Taxis in Brno are mostly standard sedans. For child seats, book a transfer in advance. For larger families, request a minivan (20-35 EUR to the center).

Bus 76: The bus stop is right outside the terminal exit, clearly signposted.

Taxi: Small taxi rank directly outside arrivals. You can also call a taxi company or use the Bolt app.

Transfer: Drivers wait at the arrivals exit with a name sign. Given the small size of the airport, you won't miss each other.

Take bus 76 if: You're a solo backpacker type, traveling very light, and enjoy public transport.

Take a taxi if: You're anyone else. Seriously — for a door-to-door ride this short, it's hard to justify anything else unless you're on a strict budget.

Book a transfer if: You're a family needing child seats, a group wanting a minivan, or heading somewhere outside Brno (Mikulov wine region, for example).
