The taxi-vs-transfer question at Kayseri airport depends entirely on where you are going. For the city, a taxi wins. For Cappadocia, a transfer usually makes more sense.

To Kayseri city center

A taxi is the obvious choice. The ride is 5 km and takes 10-15 minutes, metered on the tariff set by Kayseri's UKOME board — we could not confirm the current rate from the municipality, so check the tariff card rather than trusting a figure from a web page. There is no advantage to pre-booking a transfer for this distance unless you need a child seat or a specific vehicle type. This is the real risk: there is no published tariff for this run to check yourself against. The vehicle condition varies. No child seat. If your Turkish is limited, communication about your exact hotel can be tricky.

Transfer pros: Fixed price known in advance. Driver meets you at arrivals with a name sign. The driver has your hotel details. Child seats available on request. Vehicle is typically newer and comfortable for the longer ride. The service waits for you even if your flight is delayed.

Transfer cons: Usually more expensive than a well-negotiated taxi fare, though the gap is narrower than you might expect. Requires advance booking.

The bus alternative

Before committing to either, know what the cheap option actually is. We could not confirm any Havas service from ASR direct to Goreme or Urgup, so the budget route is Havas into Kayseri and an intercity coach onward from the otogar. If you are travelling solo, light, and arriving in daylight, it works and it is the cheapest thing going. The trade-off is a change of vehicle, two timetables, and most of an afternoon.
