Kayseri Airport to City Center: What It Actually Costs

Kayseri Erkilet Airport (ASR) is only about 5 km from Kayseri city center, making the ride quick and inexpensive. The real cost question for most travelers, though, is getting to Cappadocia.

To Kayseri city center

A metered taxi from ASR to central Kayseri runs 150-250 TL ($4-$7 USD). The ride takes 10-15 minutes. Traffic is rarely an issue unless you land during evening rush hour. This is a straightforward, cheap ride.

The Havas shuttle to the city center costs about 60-80 TL and takes slightly longer, with a fixed drop-off point.

A pre-booked sedan transfer to the city runs 400-700 TL — not necessary for this short distance unless you have specific needs.

To Cappadocia towns

This is where costs vary significantly:

  • Havas shuttle to Goreme/Urgup: 150-200 TL per person. The cheapest option, but slower (75-90 minutes) and dependent on schedule.
  • Pre-booked sedan transfer to Goreme: 800-1,500 TL for the vehicle. Split between 2-3 passengers, this becomes comparable to the shuttle per person.
  • Pre-booked minivan to Goreme (4-7 pax): 1,200-2,000 TL total. Good value for groups.
  • Taxi to Goreme: 1,500-2,500 TL, negotiated. Not metered for long distances.

Why prices vary

The Turkish lira has been volatile, so prices shift. Fuel costs, time of day, and vehicle type all factor in. Late-night transfers sometimes carry a small surcharge. High season (April through October) can push prices slightly higher as demand increases.

What makes sense financially

For the city: take a taxi. It is cheap and fast.

For Cappadocia as a solo traveler on a tight budget: the Havas shuttle is the clear winner. For couples or small groups, a pre-booked transfer often works out to a similar per-person cost as the shuttle, with the convenience of a direct ride. For groups of 4 or more, a minivan transfer is the best value by far.

Tipping is not expected for taxi rides but rounding up is common. For private transfers, a small tip of 50-100 TL is appreciated but not required.
