Getting from Yaounde Nsimalen Airport to the city

Yaounde Nsimalen International Airport (NSI, commonly referred to by the city code YAO) is about 25 km south of central Yaounde. Your options are taxis, pre-booked transfers, or being picked up by someone you know. Traffic on the Nsimalen-Yaounde road can be heavy, especially during rush hours.

Nsimalen is Cameroon's main international airport, but it is a modest facility. Immigration queues can be slow, particularly when multiple international flights arrive around the same time. Have your visa, yellow fever certificate, and passport ready. Baggage claim operates at its own pace. Once through customs, you enter a small arrivals hall. Outside, the scene can feel chaotic if you are not used to West African airports. Drivers, porters, and taxi touts compete for your attention.
