How much does it cost to get from Vilnius Airport to the city?

Last updated: March 2026

Vilnius is one of Europe's cheapest capitals for airport transport. The city center is only 5 km away, and you can get there for under €1 if you want.

Train — the absurdly cheap option

The direct train from the airport to Vilnius Railway Station:

  • Price: €0.72
  • Journey: 7 minutes, direct
  • Frequency: Every 30-60 minutes
  • Buy tickets: At the platform machine, online, or via the LTG Link app
  • Runs until: About 9-10 PM
From the railway station, the Old Town is a 10-15 minute walk. If you're staying near Gediminas Avenue or the Cathedral, this is unbeatable value.

Bus — still very cheap

Several buses connect the airport to the center:

  • Price: €1.00 (e-ticket via Trafi app) or €1.50 (cash to driver)
  • Routes: No. 1 (to railway station), No. 2, No. 3G
  • Journey: 20-30 minutes
  • Frequency: Every 10-20 minutes during the day
Buses are modern and comfortable. Buy a Vilnius transport card or use the Trafi app for e-tickets.

Bolt — the practical choice

Bolt (Lithuania's own ride-hailing company) is what most people use:

| Service | Price to Old Town | Wait | |---|---|---| | Bolt Go | €4-6 | 2-5 min | | Bolt | €5-8 | 2-5 min | | Bolt XL (van) | €8-12 | 3-8 min | | Bolt Business | €8-15 | 5-10 min |

Prices vary slightly by time of day. Rush hour (8-9 AM, 5-7 PM) and late Friday/Saturday nights see small surges. But even at peak, it's rarely more than €10 to the center.

Taxi — slightly more expensive

Official taxis from the airport rank:

  • To Old Town: €8-12
  • Metered — insist on it if the driver quotes a flat price
  • Night surcharge: About 20% more after 10 PM
Taxis cost roughly 30-50% more than Bolt for the same trip. The only advantage is no app needed.

Pre-booked transfer

| Vehicle | Price | Capacity | |---|---|---| | Economy sedan | €15-20 | 3 pax, 2 bags | | Comfort sedan | €20-28 | 3 pax, 3 bags | | Minivan | €25-40 | 6-7 pax, 6 bags |

Honestly, transfers are overpriced for Vilnius given how cheap and efficient Bolt is. They only make sense if you need a child seat, are arriving very late, or have a large group.

Complete comparison

| Transport | Price | Time | Comfort | |---|---|---|---| | Train | €0.72 | 7 min + walk | Basic | | Bus | €1.00-1.50 | 20-30 min | Good | | Bolt Go | €4-6 | 12-18 min | Good | | Bolt | €5-8 | 12-18 min | Good | | Taxi | €8-12 | 12-18 min | Good | | Transfer | €15-28 | 12-18 min | Premium |

How cheap is Vilnius really?

For context: a Bolt from the airport to the Old Town costs about the same as a single metro ticket in London or Paris. Vilnius transport pricing feels almost unreasonably low by Western European standards. Don't overthink it — take a Bolt and enjoy the savings.
