Ezeiza Airport to Buenos Aires – What You Actually Need to Know

Ezeiza Ministro Pistarini Airport (EZE) sits roughly 35 km southwest of central Buenos Aires. The ride into Microcentro, Palermo, or Recoleta takes 40–80 minutes depending on traffic and time of day. Rush hour on the Autopista Riccheri and General Paz ring road can easily double your travel time.

Your main options are a pre-booked private transfer (from around ARS 45,000 / ~EUR 40), an official airport taxi (similar price range), the Tienda Leon bus-shuttle (around ARS 12,000 / ~EUR 10), or a remis (licensed sedan). Rideshare apps like Uber work but operate in a legal grey area and pickups can be complicated at EZE.

After clearing immigration and customs — which can take 30–60 minutes on busy mornings when multiple long-haul flights land together — you emerge into the arrivals hall. The terminal is straightforward: a single main building with arrivals on the ground floor.

You will immediately see the Tienda Leon counter on your left, several remis and taxi counters, and currency exchange booths. ATMs are available but often have long queues and withdrawal limits. The free airport Wi-Fi works reasonably well for getting your bearings.

If you have a pre-booked transfer, your driver will typically wait in the arrivals hall holding a name sign, or just outside the exit doors in the designated pickup area. The key thing to know: do not follow anyone who approaches you unsolicited offering taxi rides.

The Tienda Leon shuttle is the budget option and runs every 30 minutes to Terminal Madero (Puerto Madero) and Retiro bus station. From there you will still need a taxi or subway to your hotel, adding ARS 5,000–10,000 and 15–30 minutes.

Uber and Cabify technically work, but drivers sometimes ask you to sit in the front seat and the pickup logistics at EZE can be confusing. Prices fluctuate with demand.

A pre-booked transfer is strongly recommended for late arrivals — your driver will be there regardless of delays, and you avoid negotiating with tired taxi drivers at odd hours.

The airport itself stays open 24 hours with basic amenities, but food options thin out considerably after midnight.

If you are traveling with children, car seats are not standard in Argentine taxis or remis services. A pre-booked transfer is the only reliable way to request a child seat in advance.

Luggage space in standard taxis can be tight if you have more than two large suitcases. The Tienda Leon bus has a luggage compartment but you will need to handle your own bags when transferring to a taxi at Terminal Madero.

Choose Tienda Leon if: you are on a tight budget, traveling light, and your hotel is near Terminal Madero or Retiro. Be prepared for the extra connection.

Choose an official taxi if: you are comfortable negotiating in Buenos Aires, traveling light, and arriving during normal hours.

Skip Uber at EZE if: this is your first time in Buenos Aires. The pickup logistics are not worth the potential savings.
