Treviso Airport to City and Venice: What You Actually Need to Know

Treviso Airport (TSF), also known as Canova Airport, is a small budget-airline hub about 3 km from Treviso city center and roughly 40 km from Venice. If you are heading to Treviso itself, the transfer is quick and cheap. If Venice is your destination, you have bus, train, and private transfer options, but none of them are instant. Plan for 60-90 minutes to reach central Venice depending on your mode of transport.

TSF is a compact, single-terminal airport that handles mostly Ryanair and Wizz Air flights. After landing, you walk across the tarmac or through a short jet bridge. Baggage claim is a small area with one or two belts. The whole process from plane to exit rarely takes more than 20 minutes unless there is a passport control queue for non-Schengen arrivals.

Once outside, you will find a bus stop, a small taxi rank, and a parking area. There is no train station at the airport. Inside the terminal, facilities are basic: a couple of cafes, ATMs, and a tourist information desk that keeps irregular hours. The airport has free Wi-Fi.

Local Bus to Treviso: ACTT/MOM bus line 6 connects the airport to Treviso train station. The ride takes about 15 minutes and costs a couple of euros.

Taxi: A taxi to Treviso city center costs roughly 15-25 EUR. A taxi all the way to Venice Piazzale Roma runs 70-100 EUR, though this does not get you into Venice itself, just to the edge where cars cannot go further.

Pre-Booked Private Transfer: A driver meets you at arrivals, handles your luggage, and takes you directly to your destination. For Venice, the driver drops you at Piazzale Roma or Tronchetto, where you switch to water transport. For Treviso, you get door-to-door service.

Train (via Treviso Centrale): You can take a local bus to Treviso train station and then a regional train to Venice Santa Lucia. Total journey is about 90 minutes including the connection. Cheap but requires managing luggage across multiple legs.

Treviso city center by taxi: 15-25 EUR. By local bus: about 2-3 EUR.

Venice (Piazzale Roma) by ATVO bus: 12-14 EUR. By taxi: 70-100 EUR.

Venice (Mestre area, mainland): 40-60 EUR by taxi.

Pre-booked private transfers to Venice typically cost 60-110 EUR depending on vehicle type and group size. For Treviso itself, private transfers run 25-40 EUR.

Keep in mind that reaching your actual hotel in Venice requires water taxi or vaporetto from Piazzale Roma, which adds cost and time.

TSF receives several late-evening Ryanair flights. The last ATVO bus to Venice is timed to the last flight, but if your flight is delayed, the bus will not wait forever. Local buses to Treviso stop running by late evening.

Taxis are available but the rank can be empty if multiple flights land simultaneously. After 10 PM, a pre-booked transfer is the safest bet, especially if you are heading to Venice. Being stranded at a small airport outside Treviso at midnight with no reliable transport is not a pleasant experience.

The ATVO bus to Venice has limited luggage space in the hold. If you have multiple large suitcases plus strollers, it gets uncomfortable. The bus also does not have space for car seats.

Families heading to Venice face the additional challenge of getting from Piazzale Roma to their hotel, which involves either a vaporetto (water bus with steps and no ramp) or an expensive water taxi. Plan this leg carefully.

A private transfer to Piazzale Roma or Tronchetto at least eliminates the overland portion of stress, letting you focus energy on the Venice side of the journey.

For pre-booked transfers, the driver typically waits just outside the arrivals exit with a name board. TSF is small enough that you cannot miss the meeting area. There is essentially one exit from the terminal.

For ATVO buses, the stop is directly outside the terminal building, clearly marked. Taxi rank is also right outside.

Choose the local bus + train if: You are budget-conscious, traveling light, and do not mind the transfer at Treviso station.

Choose a taxi if: You want flexibility and are heading to Treviso center or Mestre. For Venice proper, a taxi only gets you to Piazzale Roma.

Choose a pre-booked transfer if: You are arriving late, traveling with family or heavy luggage, heading to a specific location in the Veneto region, or want guaranteed transport waiting for you regardless of flight delays.
