NCE - Nice

What it costs to get from Nice airport to your destination

Last updated: February 2026

Nice airport serves both the city itself and the broader French Riviera, so costs range from pocket change to significant depending on where you are headed.

Nice city center

This is where the airport's location really shines. The city center is just 6 km away.

  • Tram (Line 2): EUR 1.70 per person, 25-30 minutes
  • Bus (98 or 99): EUR 1.70 per person, 20-30 minutes
  • Taxi: EUR 32 flat rate (regulated, same from both terminals)
  • Pre-booked transfer: EUR 25-40
  • Uber: EUR 15-25 (when available)
For a couple with light luggage, the tram at EUR 3.40 total is hard to argue with. For a family of four, the EUR 32 taxi may actually be comparable to four tram tickets while offering door-to-door service.

Why metered taxi fares vary

The flat EUR 32 rate only applies to Nice city center. All other destinations use the meter, which means the fare depends on traffic conditions. During summer, the road to Cannes can be congested, pushing fares toward the higher end. The road to Monaco through coastal towns is scenic but slow during peak hours.

Pre-booked transfers lock in a price regardless of traffic, which is particularly valuable for longer journeys where a traffic jam could add EUR 20-30 to a metered fare.

Budget options for the Riviera

Buses along the Riviera coast are remarkably cheap at EUR 1.70 per ride. The 100 bus from Nice to Monaco is a popular tourist route itself. However, these buses depart from Nice, not the airport. To use them, you would need to take the tram to Nice first and find the bus stop.

Trains along the coast are also affordable and frequent. Nice to Monaco by train costs a few euros and takes 20-25 minutes. Again, this requires getting to Nice Gare Thiers first.

These budget options work well for day trips but are impractical with luggage directly from the airport.

What to budget

For Nice city: EUR 2-32 per direction, depending on how much convenience you want.

For Riviera destinations: EUR 35-130 per direction by car. Budget accordingly and consider that a pre-booked transfer offers price certainty that metered taxis do not, especially during peak summer when traffic is unpredictable.
