How much it costs to get from Naples Airport to Naples and beyond

Last updated: April 2026

Naples Airport is only 7 km from the city centre, keeping city transfer costs low. But the airport's role as a gateway to the Amalfi Coast means longer-range pricing matters too.

Alibus: EUR 5

The express bus to Piazza Garibaldi (Napoli Centrale) and then the port. Runs every 30-40 minutes. Journey time about 20 minutes to Napoli Centrale, 30-40 minutes to the port depending on traffic. Cheap, functional, and the best budget option for central Naples. Luggage space is limited.

Taxi: official predetermined fixed fares

Naples publishes predetermined fixed fares (tariffe predeterminate) from the airport, set by Naples City Council in Delibera G.C. n.258 of 27 June 2024, in force since 1 September 2024. All licensed white taxis must apply them if you ask.

The critical point, and the thing most guides (including an earlier version of this one) get wrong: there is no day rate and night rate. The predetermined fare is a single figure per vehicle that already includes the airport supplement, the night supplement, the holiday supplement, luggage, animals and the radio-taxi call. The only things chargeable on top are motorway tolls and a EUR 5.00 minivan supplement (more than 4 passengers, or if you request a 7-9 seat vehicle).

Long-distance predetermined fares, one way, per vehicle:

You must ask for the predetermined fare at the start of the ride — the driver cannot refuse, and must give you a receipt. If a driver quotes higher or insists on the meter, ask for the tariffa predeterminata. Each taxi should display the official rate card.

There is also a collective taxi linking the airport, Napoli Centrale and Molo Beverello at EUR 6 per passenger including luggage (Naples airport).

These tariffs are set by council resolution and revised from time to time, so check the current table before you travel.

Pre-booked transfer

For central Naples, a sedan transfer is quoted per vehicle when you book. Fixed price, driver meets you at arrivals, no surcharges for traffic — and now you have the published taxi fares above to compare any quote against.

Pre-booked transfers are quoted per vehicle when you book. Where the council publishes a predetermined taxi fare, it is shown above so you can compare. Where it does not ("not listed"), agree the price before you set off or fix it with a transfer booking.

Amalfi Coast pricing note

Prices to Amalfi Coast towns reflect both distance and the nature of the drive. The SS163 Amalfi Drive is a winding mountain-coast road where average speed is low. Journey times of 90-120 minutes for 65-70 km are normal. This is not a premium — it is the reality of the road. Transfer prices include driver time on this road.

There is no practical public transport alternative for the Amalfi Coast with luggage. Whether you take a taxi on the published fixed fare or a pre-booked transfer, the cost is per vehicle — so split four ways it compares very favourably to the multi-bus, multi-connection public alternative.

The Circumvesuviana: budget option for Pompeii/Sorrento

Alibus to Napoli Centrale (EUR 5) + the Circumvesuviana on to Pompei Scavi or Sorrento. The Circumvesuviana is run by EAV and priced by distance band; we could not confirm the current fares from EAV directly, so check eavsrl.it or buy at the station ticket office. It is a few euros either way.

This train is slow, often crowded, and has a reputation for pickpockets. But it is extremely cheap and perfectly usable for travellers with minimal luggage heading to these specific destinations.

What makes prices vary

Traffic: Naples traffic is unpredictable. The tangenziale (urban motorway) connects the airport to the city and Sorrento direction but backs up. Journey times are estimates. The predetermined taxi fare is fixed regardless of how long the traffic takes, which is one of its real advantages.

Route complexity: Amalfi Coast roads are physically demanding for drivers and vehicles. This is reflected in prices.

Group size: For groups of 4+, transfers to the Amalfi Coast represent excellent per-person value compared to alternatives.
