Arriving Late at Night at Boryspil Airport (KBP)

Last updated: March 2026

Boryspil handles flights around the clock, with a cluster of arrivals from the Middle East and Asia between 11 PM and 4 AM. The airport stays open, but your transport options change significantly after dark.

Night availability

| Option | After 10 PM | After midnight | After 3 AM | |--------|------------|---------------|------------| | SkyBus | Every 30–60 min | Every ~60 min | Reduced/check schedule | | Uber / Bolt | Available, fewer drivers | Available, longer waits | Limited | | Unofficial taxis | Always present | Always present | Always present | | Private transfer | Guaranteed | Guaranteed | Guaranteed |

The night SkyBus

The SkyBus runs a reduced overnight schedule, approximately every 60 minutes between midnight and 5 AM. It still goes to Kyiv Central Station for 100 UAH (~2.30 EUR). The bus is less crowded at night, which is actually more comfortable. However, if you miss one, the wait for the next can be long.

From Kyiv Central Station, the metro closes around midnight and reopens at 5:30 AM. You would need to take a taxi or rideshare for the last leg to your hotel.

Uber and Bolt at night

Both apps work at night. Driver availability drops but is generally acceptable until about 1 AM. After that, expect wait times of 15–25 minutes. Surge pricing at night is actually less common than during rush hour since there is no traffic.

The bigger concern is the 35 km drive with a driver you cannot communicate with easily if there is a misunderstanding. At 2 AM in an unfamiliar city, some travelers find this uncomfortable.

Why unofficial drivers thrive at night

The unofficial taxi problem at Boryspil is worse at night. They know late arrivals are tired, options are limited, and bargaining power shifts to the driver. Fares of 2,000–3,000 UAH (~46–70 EUR) are commonly quoted. Do not engage.

The practical night solution

A pre-booked private transfer costs 800–1,400 UAH (~18–32 EUR) to central Kyiv. The driver tracks your flight, waits at arrivals with your name, and the price is fixed. After a long overnight flight, this is the least stressful way to reach your hotel.

Terminal at night

Terminal D stays open but is quiet. A few shops may close. The departures level has more seating if you need to wait. The terminal is safe and well-staffed by security.
