Cost from Islamabad Airport to the City — Real Prices

Last updated: April 2026

Islamabad International Airport is 30 km southwest of the city center. There is no rail or metro link, so every option involves a road transfer. Prices vary by destination, time of day, and how you book.

What affects the price

Time of day matters. Careem uses dynamic pricing — rides during Eid holidays, Friday prayer hours, and after midnight can cost 30-50% more than the base fare. Airport taxis sometimes quote a flat rate, but drivers tend to ask for more during late hours.

Tolls are included in Careem fares. If you take a regular taxi, the M-2 Motorway toll (PKR 40) may be added separately, though most drivers use the GT Road route.

Hidden costs to watch for

  • Airport parking surcharge: Some airport taxis include a PKR 200-300 airport exit fee
  • Luggage claims: Unlicensed drivers may try to charge extra for heavy bags — this is not standard practice
  • Waiting charges: If you keep a Careem waiting more than 5 minutes at pickup, per-minute charges apply

Cheapest vs most comfortable

Cheapest: inDriver to Rawalpindi, bidding around PKR 1,800-2,200 (EUR 6-7). You may need to bid a few times before a driver accepts.

Most comfortable: A pre-booked private transfer at EUR 18-25 to central Islamabad. Fixed price, no surprises, driver waiting with your name sign.
