Islamabad International Airport (ISB) — Getting to the City Without Overpaying

Islamabad International Airport sits roughly 30 km southwest of the city center in Fateh Jang. A standard taxi or Careem ride to Blue Area or F-sectors takes 35-50 minutes depending on traffic and costs between PKR 2,500-4,500 (around EUR 8-15). A pre-booked private transfer runs EUR 18-30 and removes every hassle — fixed price, meet-and-greet, no negotiating at 2 AM.

The airport is relatively modern, opened in 2018. After passport control and baggage claim, you exit into the arrivals hall. There is a small currency exchange counter before the exit doors, but rates are mediocre — exchange only what you need for the ride if you must.

Once outside, you will find yourself on a wide covered pavement. Licensed taxi counters are to the right. Drivers will approach you — some licensed, some not.
