Late night arrivals at Gdansk Airport — your real options

Gdansk Airport handles evening Ryanair and Wizz Air flights, so arriving at 10-11 PM is common. Here's what works at night.

What's available after midnight

The train situation at night

The last SKM train to Gdańsk Główny departs around 11:00 PM (check the exact schedule for your date). The first morning train is around 5:00 AM. Between those hours, the train is not an option.

Night bus — theoretically available

Night bus N3 connects the airport to the city, but with serious caveats:

• Runs roughly every 60-90 minutes
• Check the schedule at the bus stop — timing is everything
• If you just missed one, you're standing at a bus stop for an hour
• Costs 4.80 PLN for a 75-minute ZTM ticket (price list in force since 3 April 2023), but the wait can be painful

Taxis at night

Taxis apply the night tariff (Taryfa 2) overnight and at weekends, which is more expensive than the daytime rate. How much more depends on the operator: Gdansk taxis meter on their own rate cards rather than a single city fare, and the card must be displayed in the vehicle. Read it before you get in, and ask the driver for an estimate to your address.

Taxis are usually available at the rank after evening flights, but after midnight the supply thins. A few are usually there, but if multiple passengers compete for them, you might wait.

Bolt/Uber at night

Both work after midnight in Gdansk but with fewer drivers. Expect:

• Wait times of 5-15 minutes
• A fare quoted in the app before you confirm — the only number worth relying on
• Possible surge pricing on busy nights (weekends, holidays)

Bolt tends to have better availability than Uber in Gdansk.

Pre-booked transfer — the reliable choice

A pre-booked transfer is the stress-free late-night option:

• Driver monitors your flight
• Waits regardless of delays
• Price fixed at booking, and no night tariff
• Meeting point in arrivals

Since a night taxi runs on the higher Taryfa 2 rate, it is worth comparing the two on the night you actually arrive.

The night drive is fast

Late-night drives in Gdansk are quick. Empty roads mean:

• Airport to Old Town: 15-18 minutes (vs 25 at rush hour)
• Airport to Sopot: 18-22 minutes (vs 30+ in traffic)

On a metered fare, the higher night rate is partially offset by the shorter running time.

Safety at night

Gdansk is a safe city, and the airport area is well-lit and monitored. The taxi rank is supervised. The main road from the airport to the city is a well-maintained highway. No safety concerns for night transport.

• Flight landing before 10:30 PM: Try to catch the last SKM train.
• Flight landing 10:30 PM - midnight: Bolt or a taxi from the rank.
