Kempegowda International Airport is about 40 km north of central Bangalore, making it one of the more expensive airport-to-city transfers in India simply due to distance.
Why this page no longer lists fares
It used to. The figures were wrong, and they were wrong in a way worth explaining, because the same rot affects most Bangalore transfer guides you will find.
The old table paired rupee fares with euro conversions — "250–350 INR (3–4 EUR)" and so on. At the European Central Bank's euro reference rate of 16 July 2026, 250–350 INR is 2.26–3.17 EUR, not 3–4. Every conversion on the page was 25–33% too high. Nobody had touched them as the rupee moved, so the two halves of each figure had quietly stopped agreeing with each other.
That is fixable. The deeper problem is not: neither Bengaluru Airport nor BMTC publishes a fare table we could verify. The airport's cab pages carry no rates; BMTC's own site would not respond at all. Every "BLR to city" price circulating online — in guides, in aggregators, in AI answers — traces back to blogs quoting each other, not to an operator. So rather than convert bad numbers into precise-looking new ones, we removed them. An estimate of ours would carry exactly the same uncertainty while looking freshly checked.

The bus is cheapest to all of them by a wide margin, the prepaid taxi sits in the middle, and a pre-booked transfer costs the most.
Understanding surge pricing
Ola and Uber fares at BLR fluctuate significantly. During peak hours — weekday mornings (8–10 AM) and evenings (5–8 PM) — surge multipliers are common, and rain makes it worse. The prepaid taxi counter avoids the problem entirely: you are quoted a fixed rate for your zone regardless of time or conditions, which is why it is the sensible default when the apps are spiking.
Tolls and extras
The road from BLR to the city includes the BIAL expressway toll. For prepaid taxis and pre-booked transfers it is normally included in the fare you are quoted; on Ola/Uber it is added automatically to your bill. Ask at the prepaid counter if you want it confirmed. There are no parking fees or surcharges at the airport for passenger pickups.
Budget option: Vayu Vajra bus
The BMTC Vayu Vajra service is genuinely good value: air-conditioned Volvo buses with luggage space underneath, running to Majestic, Whitefield, Electronic City, Koramangala and other major areas. The trade-off is time — buses take longer due to stops — and the fact that your final destination may not be right at a bus stop, so budget for an auto-rickshaw at the other end. Even with that, it comes in well under a taxi.
Bottom line
Bangalore airport transfers are not expensive by European standards, but within India the 40 km distance makes BLR pricier than most. Get your number from the prepaid counter, the app, or BMTC — not from a guide.
