Travelling with children is easier when seats and space are arranged before you land.
What the airport page says about children
On the Regional Express 320 bus, the airport page lists children aged 0 to 12 as free, and a cash fare of CAD 3.25 listed for seniors and children. Passenger baggage is allowed on the 320. Cash on the bus needs exact change, so keep coins ready or buy tickets at the Ground Transportation Booth in Arrivals, which the airport says is available 24/7.

Child seats
We could not confirm an official rule on child seats in Nova Scotia taxis, and a taxi at the curb may not carry one. Check the current requirements before you travel. If your child needs a seat, bring your own travel seat or request one when you book a transfer, giving the child's age and weight. A seat is only provided if it is confirmed in your booking.
Vehicle size and luggage
A family with several large suitcases and a stroller may not fit in a standard taxi. For a larger group or more luggage, book a larger vehicle in advance and note the stroller and bags at booking. The airport also says shared-ride service may be available through the Ground Transportation desk, but a shared vehicle is usually less flexible with a tired child.
Bus, taxi, rideshare
The 320 is the lowest-effort public option on paper, but a stroller, bags and a tired child make a bus journey with stops harder after a long flight. Taxis and limousines are curbside outside Arrivals. The rideshare area is on the same ground transportation curb on the main level; leave through the doors near the Ground Transportation booth, turn right and follow the signs. You need mobile data, and the vehicle you receive may not have a child seat.
Tips for families
- Request a child seat when booking, stating age and weight
- Keep water, snacks and a change of clothes in your cabin bag
- Save your accommodation address on your phone
- Decide who stays with the bags while another adult finds the vehicle
- If you are collected by a friend in a private car, the airport asks that cars are not left unattended at the curb, so arrange where to meet
- For a journey beyond the city, such as the South Shore or the Annapolis Valley, book a vehicle with enough space instead of relying on what is at the curb
What we could not confirm
We have no published figure for child seat availability on taxis or rideshare at YHZ. Ask when you book, and do not assume a seat will be supplied unless your confirmation says so.
