Thanks to Ryanair and Wizzair scheduling, late arrivals at Vilnius are common. Flights landing at 11 PM or even midnight happen regularly. Here's how to handle it.
The good news
Vilnius is a Bolt city. The app works 24/7 and there are enough drivers active even late at night. For most late arrivals, you'll request a Bolt, wait 3-8 minutes, and be at your hotel in about 15 minutes. Check the in-app quote before confirming — some operators apply a modest night uplift.
What works after midnight
Bolt — your best bet
- Available 24/7
- Wait times: 3-8 minutes (may be 8-12 min after 1 AM on weeknights)
- Prices: shown as an upfront app quote, may run slightly higher than daytime
- Friday/Saturday nights: More drivers active, shorter waits
Taxis — at the rank
Taxis wait for late flights. If there's a Ryanair or Wizzair arrival at 11:30 PM, cabs will be at the rank. After midnight with no flights, the rank empties. Ask for the meter — some operators apply a night surcharge, so confirm the rate before you set off.
Pre-booked transfer — guaranteed
A transfer guarantees your driver is there; get a quote from the operator in advance. The driver monitors your flight. Useful if you're arriving at an odd hour or want zero uncertainty.
Train — not running
The last train departs around 9-10 PM. Not an option for late arrivals.
Bus — very limited
Night buses exist in Vilnius but service to the airport is minimal after 11 PM. Don't count on it.
Late-night safety
Vilnius is remarkably safe at night. The airport area is well-lit and there's no sketchy neighborhood around it. The drive through the city at night is uneventful. However:
- Avoid unmarked cars — if someone offers you a ride who isn't a taxi or Bolt, say no
- Have your hotel address ready — some drivers may not speak English well, but if it's in the Bolt app, communication is minimal
- The Old Town is quiet — after midnight on weekdays, the streets are empty. This is normal and safe, just quiet.
Delayed flights
Budget airlines are frequently delayed. If your 10 PM Ryanair becomes a midnight arrival:
- Bolt will still have drivers
- Pre-booked transfers adjust automatically
- The taxi rank might be thin, but a Bolt request fixes this

Our recommendation
Just use Bolt. Open the app when you land, request a car while waiting for baggage, check the quote, and you'll have a ride by the time you exit. Vilnius is one of those cities where ride-hailing makes everything else irrelevant, even at 2 AM.
