Faleolo International Airport is 35 kilometers west of Apia, making it one of the longer airport-to-city transfers in the Pacific Islands. The distance means transport costs are higher than you might expect for a small island nation.
Apia city center
Two official sources publish a taxi figure for this run, and they are close. Samoa Airports — the airport authority — says the taxi ride to Apia "costs about WST80". The Samoa Tourism Authority says a fare from Faleolo to Apia "should cost SAT$60-70 — payable in cash (tala)". Take WST 60–80 as your benchmark.

Taxis are not metered, so that figure is a reference point, not a price tag: the airport's own instruction is to agree the fare with the driver before starting the journey. The public bus
Samoa Airports states that standard public buses run regularly to Apia from the main road outside the airport, a short walk from the terminal, for WST 5. That is a fraction of any taxi fare. It only works if you are travelling light and arriving in daylight — the buses do not enter the airport, are not timed to flights, and are not designed for luggage.
Beach resorts on the south coast
If you are heading to Lalomanu Beach or other south coast destinations, the drive is significantly longer — about 1.5 to 2 hours. No authority publishes a rate for it, so get a quote rather than scaling up the Apia fare. The length of the trip makes a pre-arranged booking the practical choice regardless.
Manono Island wharf
The wharf for the ferry to Manono Island is closer to the airport than Apia is — about 20–30 minutes — so it should cost less than the run into town. Again, no published rate: agree the fare first.
