AMD airport is only 14 km from central Ahmedabad, which keeps transport costs low compared to most international airports. What it does not do is make the price predictable in advance: the airport publishes no fare table, and no option here runs on a posted tariff you can check before you fly. So rather than quote numbers that go stale, here is how each fare is actually set — and where you see it.
How each option is priced
| Transport | How the fare is set | Where you see the price |
|---|---|---|
| Auto-rickshaw | Metered | On the meter. The airport's guidance is that fares are based on the meter and you pay the meter reading |
| Uber/Ola (sedan) | Dynamic; surges at peak | In the app, before you confirm |
| Pre-paid taxi | Fixed per destination | Quoted at the counter inside the terminal, before you pay |
| Pre-booked transfer (sedan) | Fixed at booking | At the time you book |
| Pre-booked transfer (SUV) | Fixed at booking | At the time you book |

What changes the price
Distance is the main factor. Working outward from the airport:
| Destination | Distance from AMD |
|---|---|
| SG Highway area | 8 km |
| Navrangpura / CG Road | 12 km |
| Lal Darwaja (Old City) | 16 km |
| Gandhinagar | 25 km |
| GIFT City | 28 km |
Surge pricing reality
Uber and Ola use dynamic pricing, and fares climb during peak hours (08:00–10:00 and 17:00–20:00) and for late-night arrivals. The pre-paid taxi counter is the hedge against this — it quotes a fixed price for your destination regardless of the time.
Tips for fair pricing
Auto-rickshaws are metered, and the airport's own guidance is that you pay according to the meter reading. Some drivers at the airport will still push for a negotiated price instead. If the driver will not use the meter, settle the price before you get in.
The pre-paid taxi counter is inside the terminal near the exit. Pay there, get your receipt, and hand it to the assigned driver. This removes all ambiguity.
For Uber/Ola, check the fare in the app before confirming. If it looks unusually high, wait 5–10 minutes — surge pricing often drops quickly.
